As others have noted, this place pretends to be a brewpub, but most certainly is not. We sat in the basement near a larger brewing tank with its plumbing connected to nothing but air. I tried a flight of 5 of their house beers and was quite unimpressed, although the Czech pilsner they call Hansa Zeldzaam Desing Pilsner was respectable. Apparently, all or most of their beers are rebranded versions of other commercial beers. According to RateBeer, Hansa Eerste Velvet (Old Town Velvet) is really Rezeknis Bryuvers Gaišais; Hansa Zeldzaam Desing Pilsner (Design Pilsner) is really Bruveris Rigas Alus Gaišais; and Voor Sterke Dark Beer (Tume) is really Krāslavas Tumšais. I could not identify the other 2 beers--Hansa Vadaag Honey (4.2% on the Estonian menu and 4.5% on the English menu) and Nisu (Wheat, 5.0%). The Nisu was a poor example of a hefeweizen and the Honey was absolutely dreadful.

This modern looking restaurant in the heart of old town Tallinn seemed like the perfect stop for lunch. At first I mistook it for a proper brewpub, but like so many other pubs their branded Brewery Hansa house beers are not brewed locally. Service was slow, despite three women standing idle behind the bar for long stretches of time and the food was more of the pub grub type than what I had expected. All in all a disappointingly sterile and boring place. Visited on 2013-06-29.

As some of the other reviewers, I must start out by expressing my dislike for this place’s misleading marketing. It’s not a brewpub, but rather a pretty normal corner bar serving a couple of not-that-great brews rebranded for it. It’s quite expensive, with a hotel-lounge- kind of an atmosphere. Didn’t try the food, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came prepackaged and only re-heated on premises. Service was ok though.

First of all, this place is not a brewpub, although the name implies so. However, this was not as disappointing as the incredibly slow service: it took about 30 minutes just to make an order! The staff seemed to be constantly busy doing something else than serving the customers. The beer selection is actually quite good and features also some local beers. Prices are also somewhat expensive on the Estonian scale.

Central location in the old town. Good place for a pit stop. Some interesting beers. Didn’t get the impression of it being a brewpub, so I didn’t feel tricked. Not a must visit, but perfectly good place for a pit stop.

Claiming to be a brewpub, but in fact a GREAT BIG FRAUD. Set up more as a restaurant than a bar or pub. Staff, while friendly, were clearly just serving staff, who wouldn’t know a krausen if it hit them in the face. The place is certainly wonderfully appointed - the furniture is jaw-dropping if you like wood. The first time I went here, on its opening night, I got 2 of the most awful diacetyl bombs I’ve ever encountered, and their third beer wasn’t on, because of problems (:-o). 2 Weeks later, they’d cured the diacetyl problems, but the third one still wasn’t on. A few weeks later, and it’s on, and it’s pretty good (alas one of the others was a bit dodgy), and I see that they have 2 more beers coming. Almost all their beers come from Latvia, most from Bruveris. Downstairs there are 5 Kukko taps, if you need Finnish not-macro lagers. The other 5 taps are simply the biggest of each of the major different styles InBev have bought up (Hoegaarden, Bellevue, Leffe, Stella?, Staropramen? - farknose, as soon as I saw the taps, my eyes glazed over). Food looked very fancy and exotic, and just-less-than-Finnish prices. Had a nice chat to the head chef last night, and they’re completely re-doing their food selection. Had a sneak taste of what’s coming - and it’s gonna be good, just less fancy-sounding. You can’t knock it as a beautiful restaurant, but this is not a beer haven. (Rerate - was initially 46 total, but added to selection, service, food and overall after seeing improvements.)
Rerate: Once Marduk had uncovered the fraud, I had to strip off points for being lied to. It’s not the staff’s fault they were lying to us, I’m sure, they were just passing on what they were told.

This is a brewery tap, so for this reason a must for Ratebeerian. Central location. Beers are not so good. Food seems to be a bit fancy - should be ok now after this restaurant was in the Estonian version of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. Chicken wings we had, were excellent. For non-Finnish visitors: they have now good range of Laitilan beers on tap.

ReRate: They are frauds. Selling latvian beer under the name of "our own special beer". I hate when pubs risk with their good name in such a cheap way (thou the prices are not cheap here at all). Shame on them. 1st time: More of a hotel lounge than bar. Very fancy. 2nd time: This place is neither bar or restaurant, something between. Acoustics is poor. Meaning, 5 people talking echoes all around the walls, ceiling and floor and adds up to a very loud cacophonous noise.
