80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 dmar (1) Austin, Texas | February 17, 2013 Visited summer 2012 and believe this place is rated too low and needs an update. Relatively new to this pub, the brewer came out to chat about the beers, was very friendly, very informative and is doing a great job with the beers. All of his styles had distinction and were very clean. Food was very good, yes a little pricey, but some nice vegetarian options on the menu and the service was good both times we ate there. This is my top recommendation for brewpubs in Victoria. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 17/20 JHunter (10) British Columbia | August 7, 2012 Nice brewpub with patio near the water. everything looks new nice sofa lounge area. Descent amount of taps. Also can buy bombers from pub | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 tomciccateri (116) Albuquerque, New Mexico | September 9, 2010 Large three level outdoor patio with shade umbrellas for 40 tables harborside. View of nearby skulking teams and sightseeing seaplanes just overhead.
Lots of glass and natural wood in multilevel muliroom layout. No traffic noise but occasional boat engine sounds. Great afternoon sun. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 tpatrickr (5) Richmond, Virginia | October 11, 2009 A great little pub. Good brews, good food, fair wine list, a full bar and an ideal climate for a patio, although beware the yellow jackets in the summer. Nice atmosphere indoors as well. I see no need to find fault. Maybe a touch pricey. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 BrewDad (413) Olympia, | September 24, 2009 My first brew pub in Canada since I have started rating places. I wish I knew earlier back 10 years ago I could have added a few more. Canoe was a excellent stop on our first day of the trip. Beautiful weather, scenery and the pub was also very good looking and clean. We ended up getting an outside table with the sun on our backs we had a taster try of some of the most excellent ales. I loved the ESB with all the flavors and malt richness this was giving off. Service was not the best she seemed super busy and really could care less we where there. Typical college kid who can careless just wants her tips. Did I mention the prices where pretty high so that was a shock. The dark ambers and porters also had such great flavors. I knew I was in for a great time in Victoria. | 56 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 presario (141) Stampede City, Alberta | September 10, 2007 Went before GCBF. Did not go inside except to use the restroom. Brewery viewable from the bar was at rest. Gorgeous day to sit in the sun on the multi-tiered patio and sample 5 beers. the 6th sample holder had a glass of peanuts. A nice touch but I would prefer a 6th beer on tap. Service seems a little slow across Victoria. I liked the Beaver Brown best. Nothing too adventerous. | 46 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 9/20 Nate (259) Indiana, Pennsylvania | July 26, 2007 The interior is really kinda neat, like sitting in a barn or something large. Bar service was friendly enough, though it was mid afternoon, not quite happy hour. Got a good recommendation for a Thai place from the bartender, so that was nice. Only had room for one beer, and it was alright but not spectacular. | 56 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 Enniskillen (67) Salinas, California | July 7, 2007 Pretty much agree with MJames, seems VERY Yuppy, just got fries, they were good. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Crit (134) New Westminster, British Columbia | June 14, 2006| Updated January 22, 2010 Great building!!! Beer is less than stellar, not objectionable, but nothing that stands out either. | 44 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 9/20 Oakes (612) Savusavu, Fiji Islands | October 31, 2005| Updated January 22, 2010 Located right around the corner from Swan’s on the harbour. Big and bright, with lots of wood. Very sterile, even though it’s been around a few years now. Last time I was here I spent the whole time fending off some cougar. This time, service was less than cheerful. Beers were hit and miss, and the hits weren’t that good. They have bottles and growlers of the regulars to go. Didn’t eat. Pretty boring bar atmosphere. |
