84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 Bjarte1 (70) , Norway | March 11, 2013 Charming Fuller´s pub with very well kept beers and excellent thai food. Can be very crowded. The facade is quite a sight and inside you are surrounded of Churchill memorabilia. Open fire-place also. A gem off a pub. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 McTapps (54) Ruhrgebiet, Germany | February 10, 2013 Nice cozy pub in a very traditional and old-school way. The flowers hanging from the window sills outside the pub are just amazing and inside there are so many little things hanging from the ceiling and on the wall that it is so hard to stop looking. The beer selection is okay, they have got many Fuller’s beers on tap and quite some bottled treasures as well. The atmosphere is very welcome and warm, I enjoyed the stay a lot. | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 jlhooker (3) Dublin, Ireland, Ireland | November 8, 2012 My favorite London pub. Gets busy after work but great for lunchtime or early afternoon pint and super Thai food. Warm homely atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. Memorabilia collection just keeps growing and flower display outside always amazes. Fantastic atmosphere at Cristmastime. Standard Fullers casks and bottles. Always fresh. Unfortunately the London Porter tap had gone on my most recent visit (Oct 12). Great spot. Hard to leave! | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 GODiSSOUTHERN (20) Virginia | August 16, 2012 Very cool atmosphere and amazing really hot thai food. The best thai hybrid pub I have been to. | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 Leighton (389) London, England | July 23, 2012 Wow, this place is a trip. It’s quite literally overflowing with character; just go there, you’ll see what I mean. Typical Fullers line-up, though not many interesting bottles (some Fullers pubs will have the Vintage Ales and other high ABV stuff). Prices seemed slightly above average. As you walk towards the back of the pub you will make your way into an attached Thai restaurant - one of the more gloriously incongruous transitions I can recall. I think this place probably has ’London Institution’ status, and for good reason. Definitely worth a visit. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (227) , England | March 29, 2012 Not far from Nottinghill Gate Tube Station, this is a lovely looking pub both inside and out. The floral display is very good for London (car fumes and general bad air kills things in London), it always looks a picture. Inside it is packed with Churchill (The Great British Leader of WW11, not the ciggy firm) pictures and artifacts.
Always seems to be full, often unable to get a table straight away, but there has always been enough space to stand on each occassion I have been. Shoppers, tourists and locals in about equal numbers frequent the place.
The Fuller’s Brewery’s beers are in fine form here, in cask condition and not too cold/hot, a common fault in a lot of London pubs.
The service has always been good, never the same staff (another London pub problem), but the ones here are obviously trained better than most.
The selection is OK, but of course only Fuller’s beers are in casks, all the others are Lager type drinks.
The pub is on a lot of bus routes, so not difficult to find and as I said earlier, fairly close to Nottinghill Gate tube. Well worth a visit.
| 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 jackl (206) London, England | December 19, 2011 Awesome pub, one of my favorites in London. The food is absolutely top-drawer for value. The dishes are hearty thai, big portions. The pub’s a Fuller’s outpost, and has most of the usual suspects. The beers are very well kept. The ESB, in particular, is always on form. Charming atmosphere. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Boudicca (373) London, England | September 18, 2011 Wander along Kensington Church Street and you can hardly miss the Churchill as the outside is a riot of flowers dripping from hanging baskets on the walls and troughs on the roof; and inside, the ceiling is dripping with chamber pots (not literally dripping of course!), brass and copper coal scuttles and other paraphernalia. It draws you in and is almost always busy with locals and tourists alike. They serve a good pint and have an excellent Thai restaurant at the back, which you glimpse if you go down the little flowery corridor to the ladies toilets. Thai food is also served in the bar and, at around £7.50 for a plate, it’s good value. The staff are friendly and efficient.
(Last visited 16 July 2011). | 64 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 KyotoLefty (350) Kyoto, Japan | August 7, 2011 Mind-boggling atmosphere--maybe the loveliest outside of a pub ever, with all kinds of flowers everywhere. Inside is all kinds of nick-knacks. The regular Fullers line with some lagers--not too inspiring lineup, food is Thai, looked good, servers are young ladies. Worth it just to see the pub. | 58 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 10/20 beansoup (22) , | April 22, 2011 Great Thai menu, invasive but cool decoration and plenty of cold Chiswick biitter. Loverly. |
