70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Bryne (214) Bryne, Norway | February 19, 2013 A neighbourhood spot and local bozer, but unfortunately I was not very impressed. Not that many cask ales and rather boring beers on keg. But, a good cask bitter like Salopian Darwin’s Origin is always a winner! The guests? It would not have surprised me if "Lou Todd & Andy Pipkin" by chance had a pint by the bar counter. Drop in if you stay nearby, but it is not worth a detour. There’s something like 4-5 beers on cask, plus a number of questionable beers on keg. The service is friendly, familiar. The ambiance is pretty excellent. This pub is pokey and very unique. It feels like a real local hangout. The beers aren’t fantasticcally interesting, but there’s always a couple of novel guests on. The value is very good. Overall, this is a very good place that’s worth a look if you’re near Paddington or Queensway. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 11/20 Brugmansia (256) Jylland, Denmark | August 23, 2012 Visited this pub 27/12-2011 with my parents.
Went there just before closing time, for a last drink before bedtime.
Seemed as a very local pub, very cosy.
Very much christmas deco, almost to much.. As well was the music, a pit to loud being able to talk very much.. | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 tdtm82 (70) , England | April 25, 2012 This is a classic and rather vintage pub tucked away in the leafy suburbs of Bayswater . The building itself is completely vintage. When you step inside you feel like you are going back in time to a place where pubs were a large hub of the community and punters were diverse and characterful.
The staff are very attentive, the music choices was superb with many Beatles’ albums being played and there was good old fashioned pub games to keep you occupied.
During our stay I consumed a half of wonderfully kept Harveys Pale Ale which was just as well conditioned as the Harveys pub near Borough Market. The cellar management was top notch.
My only pain is there wasn’t enough craft London beers. Give them a Redemption Trinity and a Kernel Porter and this place would be a great hub for London beer. Even Fullers ESB would be a great addition.
Due to the system scoring on RB being unfair on small choice establishments this rate does not give the pub enough justice. If you want a pint of Harveys pale ale then come here.
Thanks for Leighton for the recommendation. ,Shoot me a text when they get Crouch Vale; Dark Star or Redemption and Brodie’s in!
If you want a traditional and classic pub then place this very highly on your must go to list. The character is fantastic. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 Leighton (389) London, England | September 15, 2010| Updated February 29, 2012 My neighbourhood spot. An awesome pub, very dynamic. Dimly lighted with a large front area, along with games (darts, snooker, board games...) in the back. The music is the best I have heard in London, ranging from classic punk rock to motown to country western. The beer selection is decent: five real ale pumps, along with a bevy of macro lagers and ciders. Prices are decent. During my last few visits (and right now) I’ve been ordering the BrewDog Edge. Clientele is diverse. They have free bar snacks. There are two TVs, although they aren’t on unless there is something important to watch. Very unassuming. Love this place. |
