Food, service and prices are average. The place has a nice old atmosphere, used to be an old ball room. Now a sports bar theme with pool tables and such. Really nice tap selection but not the greatest location. | 54 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 yemenmocha (66) Glendale, Arizona | September 19, 2009 Cobblestone’s has a unique atmosphere in downtown York, PA. The entrance hallway has numerous "windows" on each side, similar to what you would find at the race track or at the movie ticket window. The bar is apparently converted from an old theatre or similar building structure.
This feature can be a good thing if you’re not fond of cigarette smoke (or cigar smoke, as cigars are allowed and encouraged here) because the ceiling is about 3 stories high, with numerous large screen tv’s canvassing the "theatre".
Cobblestone’s offers around 40 taps, which varies considerably throughout the year. About 20% are macros but the rest faithfully represent the local breweries, especially Stoudt’s and Troeg’s. If there is a seasonal offered, Cobblestones will likely have it. And, they don’t jack up the prices or skimp on the serving sizes on the higher alcohol draught offerings that you see at other nearby establishments (cough cough... KClingers). Occasionally during the year I’ll find a week or two when the offerings are a bit low because the next seasonal has not been released, but overall I can always find a new brew to try, almost weekly.
Food is standard American, perhaps slightly Italian fare. Prices are reasonable. Above average in taste/quality, however nothing is outstanding yet nothing is bad either.
The guys work the bar so if you prefer a female server you’ll have to take a table. You might suspect that the mgmt. encourages Hooter’s style clothing but maybe the servers just prefer to dress that way.
Around dinner time to early evening is ideal for seeking to try a few brews. The place almost has a family atmosphere at that time as children are often seen dining with the folks. After 9 or 10 the place is more of a college hangout though, and the music is a bit loud.
| 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 MrBlizzard (1) Pennsylvania | July 10, 2009 The selection is continuously changing to include the best craft beers available to the area. There are 65 different drafts & about 50 different craft bottles. The food menu is made up of both bar staples & original creations which are all made to order with top end ingredients. Great place to watch any game. They have 6 regulation pool tables, dart boards, foose ball tables, & NTN trivia. There’s realy something for everyone with the beer selection being the centerpiece. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 machfive55 (36) Columbia, Pennsylvania | November 19, 2008 The selection is what really gives this place a boost in the ratings, they have a huge bar with a ton of beer on tap. Otherwise, I find it to be kind of a college hangout place. Plenty of pool tables, TV’s at the tables, and plenty of room. But if you go on the weekend you are going to find the college crowd...not necessarily a bad thing, but it can get noisy in there too. I got a DFH 120 there and it what served in proper glassware so that is a plus. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 BeerGestapo (14) Mt.Joy, Pennsylvania | August 14, 2008 Walking down the street looking for Cobblestone’s, practically walked right by the entrance..lol. From the outside it looks like a dive !! But once you enter the place it’s very cool inside. There are 2 big staircases which leeds to the second floor, a nice big sports bar, 3 tv srceens and a very good beer menu !!! plus some pretty good food too. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Guinness4Duff (7) Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida | January 27, 2008 One of my favorite places from my college days in York. There are alot of beers on tap, many PA microbrews, several rogues, etc. and they do offer a beer sampler deal. They have some nice pool tables and karaoke upstairs. I have’nt been here in a few years, but I have a class reunion coming up and I will definitely be making a stop while im back in town. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 afireinside96 (33) Mountville, Pennsylvania | January 14, 2008| Updated July 28, 2008 at first glance appears to be a standard sports bar. that is until you see the beer menu. they offer 60+ beers on tap composed largely of local microbrewers. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Nejhleader (73) Lemoyne, Pennsylvania | October 24, 2007| Updated July 28, 2008 pretty nice bar, deffiantly one of the better places in york. I guess if your in york its worth a stop, but other than that don’t worry about it. |
