66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 Drake (392) Ivy, Virginia | September 3, 2011 Located outside the ridiculously charming town of Waterford down a long gravel road. The brewery is located separately from the winery. A small shed-like building but they are currently expanding due to the massive crowds. Honestly, I don’t know how all those people in there fit in the vehicles outside. Probably about 50 people but with the small place it gets packed. The staff were working hard but still found time to be friendly. $7 gets you a sample of all of six beers (2-3 ounces each) and you keep the class which is actually a pretty nice tasting glass. I can see it making an appearance at future tastings. The beers ranged from average to good. The IPA was particularly good. A bit of an amateurish tinge to some of them, but I was overall pleased with the range. Pretzels and peanuts are out to munch on. Nice little brewery. | 48 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 1/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 7/20 Elwood (97) Leesburg, Virginia | September 3, 2011 Located out in Waterford, the scenery is nice driving out. The "brewery" is located in a shed where there is a small bar for tastings. Tastings are $7 for six sub par brews, a glass, and stale snacks (peanuts and pretzel sticks). I want to like this place since it’s right in my backyard, but it’s not very good and I can’t recommend coming here. The beer would be the only attraction but I would call it mid grade homebrew at best. Perhaps with a little more time things will improve. |
