100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 STEVIE_NIX (1) , | June 5, 2013 Hardest working brothers in the business*.Always a pleasure to visit. Knowledgable and informative. Consistent stock updates on twitter. I love this place. A real beer drinkers heaven.
*probably! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 Grindcore (1) , | May 19, 2013 Always a great selection, I’ve had some stunners, the Lads are always very helpful and have pointed me in the direction of some classics (a quick note, the other half pops in when birthdays, christmas etc are due and they help her out with gifts for me, Tactical Nuclear Penguin, Buxton Stouts and more) can’t fault them and their recent run down to the East End has given me the chance to try Pressure Drop, Five Point, Crate as well as the usual Kernal, Partizan, Brodies etc, the only drawback is that it’s only about a mile and a half away from me (very conve and I will be bankrupt eventually | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Fin (377) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | April 29, 2013 We (me, Loz, Barry & Lynn) visited here yesterday Sunday 28th April 2013 on way back from a weekend at my mums in Worcester. I have to say that this is probably the best bottle shop that I have been to in the UK. I don’t doubt that the Beers of Europe has a wider and greater selection but for sheer quality and huge choice and fair prices then this wins out for me. Fairly easy to find, we accessed it from the M42, straight up the main A441 heading into Birmingham and when you get into Cotteridge you’ll see it on the left eventually, parking might be an issue but there is a pub car park opposite that you could probably sneak into, the road outside has a single yellow line and parking on a Sunday wasn’t an issue but a weekday or Saturday might be a bit more difficult, though I guess public transport up and down this road would also be very good as I guess you are just 3-4 miles from the centre of town. Beer wise, where do you start? Huge ranges of the following breweries, Brodies, Mikkeller, De Molen, Wild, Thornbridge, Buxton, Evil Twin, Kernel, Partizan, Tiny Rebel etc, etc andf then there were loads of newcomers many that I had never had or hadn’t had that often, Rebel (Cornwall?), Weird Beer and others that I forget. The shop is essentially a large oblong laid out with one central island on one side it is wine on the other is all UK beers, to the left of this central island (looking with you back to the counter) all down that left hand side is Foreign beers starting with US beers, moving onto Danish before then Belgian, Dutch, French and others. Some of the more expensive American beers along with some rare Brewdog and the odd Belgian offering are near the counter. The brothers who run this shop Cal and Jaz (I think they were called) were really friendly and we chatted for some time about who, how and where they get beers from. I was hugely impressed with this place and the friendliness and helpfulness of the brothers, I can see this becoming a regular stop off both going to or returning from my mums. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 mcberko (139) Vancouver, British Columbia | April 26, 2013 Hands down must be the best bottle shop in the UK. Amazing selection of the best of the best UK beers, an unusuaully phenomenal American beer selection, and mainland European selection. Very good prices. Extremely friendly staff who are passionate about beer and eager to please you. Such a great place. Absolutely mandatory place to stop. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 TickerTerryDJ (17) Redditch, England | April 24, 2013 Great place with a really good selection of beers which are keenly priced. Many rare and unusual brews appear here throughout the year making it well worth a visit. The guys that run it are eager to please and are always helpful. They will also try to tack down beers on your wishlist for you. With the range they have coming through at the moment and previously it means i’ll never be rich, but,at least i’ll be happy!Give them a try,its well worth a visit. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 superflyguy (24) Leeds, England | March 14, 2013 Cheeky visit after a conference at the ICC, the perfect antidote. An amazing selection and the chaps there are knowledgable and happy to shoot the beery breeze. Could have spent an hour in there and spent a much more than I did. If you get chance to go, do it. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 SarkyNorthener (48) Walsall (Yorkshire Expat), England | February 20, 2013| Updated May 5, 2013 Friendly and helpful staff, good selection of bottles. My only problem is their website is way out of date. Prices have increased a little on some beers and half the beers I went for were not available. They told me they were going to re do the whole site and update with new range. Will re score when this is done and I visit again. | 96 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 Dommod2011 (5) Birmingham , England | December 31, 2012| Updated May 5, 2013 This place is my destination for a weekly beer pilgrimage. Excellent range of beers at fantastic prices, friendly and helpful service. Great Twitter presence and always willing to put beers aside until I can make it down. Thanks gents. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Beersiveknown (36) , Northern Ireland | November 23, 2012| Updated May 5, 2013 Just visited last night. Superb range of beers and came away with far more than I had initially intended. Friendly staff who leave you to browse but happy to help if needed. Lots of stuff I’ve never found in UK before. Recommended | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (233) , England | November 21, 2012 I don’t like places that up their scores by adding raters for that sole purpose: if you are involved with Cotteridge Wines please remove the ratings you’ve put on here! A couple of miles down the road from Birminghams other ’beer geek’ shop in Stirchley. This place is fine: I was left alone to wander along the rows of beer to select and browse without any interference. The prices are keen and the selection different to their near competition: these guys seem to major on craft and newer UK breweries with a smaller International and traditional area. I’ll always visit both this place and Stirchley when I need a special beer fix because between them you are going to find something you want, need or is interesting. |
