Not a bad place, but way overpriced. An average bar. The food is good, and they have house brews that are stellar, but everything else is very mediocre.

Pretty nice downtown brewpub. The beers were above average for a local brewpub. I would definitely come back if I was in town.

Really nice brewpub in downtown Des Moines. Cool atmosphere, decent brew, and very good food.

Knowledgable bar tenders, but they don’t pay much attention to you when your glass gets empty. The beer is average to good, but nothing that would make me drive the hour and a half to Des Moines just to get it. IMO this is the second best brew pub option in the Des Moines area, the first being Rock Bottom, and I would rather go to El Bait Shop or Hessen Haus before here. If you’re in the area you may as well stop by for a flight and judge yourself.

Came here for lunch today, while in town for work. Decent selection of beer - varied styles. Food menu was fair, the slad I had was good though.

Stopped by on a Saturday night. Surprisingly, it was easy to find two seats at the bar, and the bartender was quick to serve us. Bartender was also very friendly, so service gets an easy 10. Nice ambiance, but it is really dark at the bar. Not that I expect it to be bright, but a little more light would be nice. Didn’t try the food, but it looked very nice. Beer prices were very reasonable, but food prices are high--expect around $10 for the cheapest starter. Selection was good, with three barrel aged beers on tap, along with their regulars and seasonals. A little more upscale than I was expecting, but overall a nice place that I definitely plan on revisiting...for beer anyways, I can’t afford the food at this point.

Nice cask rye pale ale, very good off-site brewed hard cidar (nicely filtered). Rest of beers I tried (Stout, Infatuation, IPA) were mediocre. Was sold out of 21st Amendment IPA. Very good food, nice atmosphere, good bartender who had a half-salad made for me. Welcoming place, outside seating on somewhat busy, very safe street. Found parking two blocks away, on a Tuesday night. Must be busy on a weekend... where else is there to go in central Iowa on the weekends?

Cool, old atmosphere with great service. The beers seemed to all be average or better. The best brewery to stop by if you’re in DSM.

Solid brewpub. I love the atmosphere - dark and wood, my kind of place. Pretty good number of house taps, most of which are decent, but unspectacular. Seems like they are doing a little bit of "brewing for the masses", which is fine, but the beers themselves aren’t exciting enough to make this a "can’t miss" place everytime I’m in town.

waitress Amanda very helpful with all my questions, crowd was mixture of old and young service was great she broke down every beer for me. Had the Reuben excellent not to pricy better than some restaurants I would recommend to anybody
