We just happened to stumble by this place when walking through Amsterdamís seediest area. Fortunately amidst all of the dreadful Irish pubs, rude Indonesian restaurants, coffee shops, and prostitutes, there is a place where someone can drink a local beer and eat a weinerschnitzel. This is that place. It is located on a tiny street and were it not for a small sign, it would be quite hard to find. However, I was glad I found it. The beer selection while not voluminous was all new to be so I was happy. There were probably 6-8 beers on tap as far as I remember, along with a few additional bottles of their beer in the coolers. The bar was a tad loud, but nothing compared to Blind Tiger in New Amsterdam. The staff were all nice (apparently, they are former convicts or people with anger issues... according to a very talkative Dutch guy who spoke to me for quite a while) and were very concerned whenever anything was moving slowly or a full beer wasnít before me. The food was alright and was not a terrible value considering the fairly large portions. The beer was tasty. I enjoyed trying some Dutch stouts and IPAs. If I was a millionaire I would visit again sometime.

Visited on Friday night. It was very full of course, but the crowd stayed manageable throughout the evening. Itís nice to be in a large place that can accomodate many people coming and going every once in a while, especially in Amsterdam where it is certainly not the norm. The ambiance wasnít really at asking the barmen for tips or special information, but the service was fine. They have a nice variety of Dutch pub grub for OK prices (a bit on the expensive side). The beer however is good value, the prices are similar to the other Aídam brewpubs. All in all I would recommend this place, the location is also much to itís advantage, an easy stop for someone pub-crawling the center of Amsterdam.

Large pub attached to the brewery. Naturally a selection focused on the local beer. Quite busy. Not a bad beer place with a decent atmosphere. Worth to drop in for a few of Prael beers before, fighting off the tourists and then head out for other more diverse locations.

Awesome relaxed place in the center of Aídam with good beers, nice service and good food. Old armchairs and couches which are awesome on sunday afternoons. The proeflokaal also has a social reintegration purpose for employees, a second reason to go enjoy a beer there!

Good relaxed place. Quite crowdy on a sunday afternoon. Life music (small jazz ensemble, very nice). Good service. Six beers from the tap but only three bottled beers during my visit.

A glass-fronted modern bar on split levels. The place was packed on our visit but we managed to secure seats at the bar behind the window. All the beers we had were excellent - Revelation - a collaboration with Brasserie 4:20 in Rome, Johnny Black Edition - an Imperial Stout and De Prael Rudi, a Marzen. An enjoyable time spent here.

A decent sized brewpub down a side ally very near the town center. Service was good and bartenders were helpful. A good selection of their taps plus a decent number of bottles as well. Bitterballen were delicious! Prices were competitive as well. I enjoyed my visit.

Visited September 2012.
As mentioned by pretty much everyone else this has a modern look to it. There is a bar and some tables downstairs where you enter and a loft upstairs with a few more tables. We sat at a table and ordered a flight of house beers. Most of what was available here is also available next door at the gift shop. The beers ranged from bad to good and contained everything in between. Even in the middle of the day the place was pretty busy. Service was very slow but friendly. It seems like they do brew a fair amount of different beers so if I find myself in Amsterdam again I might stop back in to see whatís new. Not sure that will happen anytime soon though as Amsterdam is a giant tourist destination and Iíve been a couple times already.
