I really like that beer is cold, I don’t know pet peeve. best selection, knowledgable staff. Still waiting for Enjoy By. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | November 30, 2012 Wow I could have sworn I rated this before. Anyway this is one my favorite places to stop when in NY. Place is kind of like an italian Whole Foods in a way that it is a high end grocery store. Has a nice buffet and salad bar, but what makes this place special is that it has one of the better beer selections I found across the country. Usually have some really solid beers available in growlers and a few jewels from Cigar City, Founders, Goose Island, and an eclectic selection of imports. Definitely worth a stop if you are up around Westchester County. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 19/20 HeadyDE (36) Delaware | November 23, 2012 Wide selection of bombers, growler fills, singles and packs..hard to imagine a store with a better selection of rare offerings crammed into such a tight space..had ample supply of goose island bcs..prices were pretty good..but hey one has to expect pretty high prices for limited supply offerings..heard a few people complain about wait time at growler fill station while I was there..Wasn’t asked for help but the beer guy might have been out..a worthy destination..interested to see how other locations compare.. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 bmerz (118) Brooklyn, New York | October 20, 2012 Stopped by on our way to Captain Lawrence today and was surprised to find this top rated spot in a far back corner of an upscale suburban market. But jeez, well worth the small detour. They have a different selection from what you normally see in the city. There are more rarities and better representation from notable breweries. The "beer guy" was present and was obviously a beer lover. Go prepared to spend a lot even though the prices are pretty good. It will be very easy with their choices. | 76 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 MrChopin (100) Baltimore, Maryland | December 8, 2011 Supermarket feel in suburban New York. Beer in the back, groceries everywhere else, cheese stand right there. Awesome selection, on tap locals plus bottles from all over, some secrets still tucked way near the back of a shelf, turnover isn’t the fastest. Help from the beer guy, very fair prices on some stuff (Belgian standards), prices higher on others. Will stop here whenever in the area. | 74 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 16/20 CooperEllis (4) , | November 13, 2011 This is a supermarket, complete w/ deli, bakery, grocery and a ’beer section’ that has several draft options which they will fill in 32oz and 64oz gorwlers. They do not counter-pressure fill. You can not sample the beers.
The ’value’ would be higher if they would have the same prices at this location as they do at the Pelham location of DeCicco’s (where there is a much smaller selection and no growler fill option).
They have most everything that becomes available in the area. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Thorpe429 (58) , Illinois | September 1, 2011 Had my second visit to De Cicco’s yesterday to pick up some Sixpoint and Narragansett cans while we’re up in the area. The first thing I went to was the growler station. I’d gotten a few of these in trades in the past, but never actually seen the selection myself. There were a few different beers from Captain Lawrence as well as an interesting hoppy beer from Sixpoint.
The setup is pretty nice, with a guy sitting behind the counter ready to fill growlers. He was extremely fast filling the growler and while I didn’t have any questions about their beers available for growler fills or anything else in the shop, I get the feeling that I would have had available help if that were the case.
Selection was pretty nice. If it weren’t for the growler station, I’d have this at more of a 4.0, but having that number of available (and often relatively obscure) beers right there for either 32oz or 64oz growler fills was very, very nice. Other than that, pretty good import selection with a nice selection of Belgian stuff. Quite a few available lambics and gueuzes, which is always a plus.
Overall, definitely a place that I will frequent whenever I am up in the area. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Jow (93) New York | July 20, 2011 This market rules. Huge selection of beers. Occasional tastings. growler fills. I stop by pretty much every time I am in Westchester | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Drink4Satan (29) Washington, Washington DC | December 8, 2010 Tons of bottles (the biggest selection in NY actually), a few taps (which are all properly and regularly maintained) and tons of cheese, with many varieties available to sample. The dude who orders the beer is a certified beer geek. He knows whats up, and that’s why every ipa in the store is ordered as fresh as possible and are always refrigerated. Also, all the beers are tucked away in the back of the market so no sunlight will ever strike these bottles. The shitty macro lagers are not on display as are the rarities and micros. You can buy growlers and sample everything on tap. Be warned, you’ll spend a lot of money here. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 Chalsk (41) North Caldwell, New Jersey | October 18, 2010 A great spot in Westchester County. Stopped by to grab some Cigar City. Lucked out and found some 2010 Bigfoot left over and some Alesmith Speedway stout. Its a grocery store that has a suprising strong selection. |
