66 This place is hit and miss. They get some pretty good beers, but at a higher price than elsewhere. The food is outstanding, never had a bad bite there. Service can be slow and cold or quick and friendly, again hit and miss. If they have something you can’t get elsewhere or want to try a pint over some great food give it a go. Otherwise I’d try another bar in the area. |
80 Liked this place a lot, although was a little worse for wear when I was there. They had a Kyoto brewing taster set which was a great idea. Good tap selection, decent prices and nice food. Enjoyed the atmosphere too. |
74 Very friendly service, Irish waiter. Solid tap list including most recent local seasonals. Great food, tried both the deep dish pizza and burger, hot sauce was good too. Prices seemed average, food/tap selection was one of the best in town. |
72 I stopped by here after a tasting in Utsubo Park. The bar has about a half-dozen tables in the front room with a long room at the back with the bar. The crowd was in high spirits & the staff were friendly. I enjoyed the 1100 yen tasting set(3 x 150ml) which is a rarity in Japan and friends order some appetizers which were tasty. All in all a good place. -------- Update April 2014 -------- They’ve now split their taps with half going to imports - primarily from the US and half being Japanese. They’ve also been hosting a lot of events lately. A small place but well worth the visit. The 1200 yen burger I had there was delicious. -------Update Jan 2015-----------
These days they have tons of events here, including an American Craft Beer Event in the park in front of the bar that had some tasty BBQ. Seriously nice burgers and occasionally the AQ Bevolution gyozas. Portions on food are quite good and beer is available in a wide range of sizes though the tasters are now 1200 yen(100ml x3) I believe. Most improved bar in Osaka in 2014. Unfortunately, in 2015 they are heading downhill. I’ve heard they’ve alienated many foreign craft beer lovers, prices have increased on top of them suddenly now being tax excluded (half a year or more after the tax increase) plus the half import half domestic thing is no longer in effect so I am dropping them down... |
84 Stopped in for a quick one while in Osaka. Happy I did nice place great selection and the stuff was very helpful. Not to mention another location checked off for me. |
88 Had a fantastic time here during my short stay in Osaka. Dining tables up front with the bar area towards the back. Bartenders spoke pretty good English and there was a very friendly Irish bartender Darren who was glad to strike up conversation. Solid tap list of Japanese and import beers. Tap list is in both English and Japanese though the food menu is mostly in Japanese with a little English here and there, bartenders are happy to help translate though. Food was pretty good, had the smoked bacon burger and one of their small size deep pie pizzas (more of a pizza with a puff pastry crust than a deep dish). Only bar I’ve been to in Osaka but well worth a stop. Really great service that made me feel kind of like a regular. |
80 Small, friendly place. Wood beams and tasteful decoration. Two sections: tables in front area for 25-30; bar seats for 10. 16 taps and the selection is evenly divided between Japanese and US craft beers. A little pricier than the norm: 200ml for 500yen; 300ml for 750yen; 400ml for 1,000yen; and 1,000ml for 2,500yen. Sampler set of three 150ml glasses for 1,100yen. Also, a limited selection of wines, sake, shochu, whiskey, and cocktails. Food menu looked good, but also a touch expensive; a featured item is a large special burger for 1,280yen. Staff were very attentive and also well versed in their offerings. Some English spoken, too. I look forward to visiting this place often. |
82 Very nice big bar in a great location. Staff are all versed in beer and English. Large tap list and food is very good. Try the terrine and pate. A must go. |
76 Newly appointed bar with lots of wood. Rough and natural look is nice. Quite roomy feel. 16 taps had a pretty good selection, now they are focusing more on American beers, and getting in some interesting and somewhat hard-to-find stuff. Tasting sets are a plus. Perfect location between BB Tosabori and Q-Brick makes it an obvious choice during a crawl. Staff speak English and know about beer. Great service. One of the top places in the city. They get lots of interesting stuff that others often don’t. Best pours around. |
