70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 rickhall28 (123) Denville, New Jersey | April 28, 2013 If we were rating BBQ places my score would be much higher...but alas...we are rating craftbeer places...and as a craftbeer destination...this is not one. Still...the fact that you can even get mightly good BBQ north of the Mason Dixon Line with a decent beer to wash it down...in Newark no less (thanks to The Rock of course)...is something to praise. Years ago I used to frequent their original place in Syracuse...now that’s worth a side trip and a half...tons of character and history. I’ve been a little generous in my score here due to that history. Good choice when going to The Rock...not worth a special trip if you are searching out craftbeers though. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 ben4321 (163) Hoboken, New Jersey | December 28, 2012 This is the first time I have visited one of the Dinosaur BBQ locations. The BBQ is excellent, right up there with anything I have in the NYC area. The draft list was decent, they have a few from Syracuse and some other micros. It is not a beer destination by any means though, it is a BBQ destination with a decent beer list.
| 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 RGDave (28) Lebanon, New Jersey | May 9, 2012 Brand-new restaurant in the heart of Newark, NJ, just off Devil’s Plaza on Market Street. You can see this place from Penn Station, and it’s exactly what we needed around here - excellent BBQ food, casual atmosphere and bar, friendly & professional staff, and a variety of quality beers on tap. Flying Fish, Ramstein, River Horse, Cricket Hill, Victory, Blue Point, Brooklyn, and others are all represented here. Major step forward for Newark! |
