Lovely area. Lovely pub. Fantastic selection of really great beers. Young, trendy punters. I love the church style beer board. One of the very best pubs.

(Visited Nov 2013) Modern pub in a residential area between Angel and Old Street stations. Visited on a Friday evening, so it was quite crowded, noisy and a bit gloomy. Young and fairly hip clientèle. Quite a large place with a long bar in front of you when entering. Available beers on a board on the wall to the left. Five or six cask ales according to the board, but most of them were gone, instead they had "some blond ale from Bristol, not on the list" (no more information available on that one). Interesting selection of keg beers, some from British micros and some from European or American breweries. The place is listed as a brewpub, but no evidence of brewing equipment or own beers were available. Service was friendly and efficient. Not really a great first impression, but the place seems to have some potential, so I’ll check it out again at a more favourable time. (Revisited Apr 2014) Came back on a Thursday afternoon in April, and this was a far better visit. They had 5 or 6 cask ales of good quality and around 15 keg beers, mainly from the UK, but also from Germany, Denmark and Spain. Friendly and efficient service. Nice place, worth a visit.

A great neighborhood pub in Angel. Good beer selection that differs a bit from most other pubs in London. Occasionally they’ll have one of their own beers on. The prices are good for London and they’ll pour thirds of all draft beers. Nice beer garden out back with several tables. Friendly, efficient service. I’ve never had to wait long for a beer even when it’s packed. They hosted Zwanze day the past two years and did a great job.

None of it’s own bar, as seems usual, Decent enough selection of keg and cask. Pricey but worth a visit.

Excellent service and friendly staff. My problem, like at so many British pubs, is the similar tasting cask ales. There were five on cask and 13 on keg when I visited, but none of the casks impressed me, including Magic Rock Ringmaster, and the kegs were a mixture of boring Belgians (Steen brugge, come on!) And surprisingly boring pale ales from the US an UK. One tiny stout and that was it.

They didn’t have any of their own beers on at my visit, but they had enough different cask beers to satisfy me, although a few of them were on in several other London pubs at the same time. It was somewhat crowded at my visit on a Sunday afternoon and thus the service was a bit slow. Easy to combine with a visit to Craft Beer Co. Islington or to reach via tube.

I have visited EoE plenty of times and it has got a lot better since it’s early days. Clean, modern pub interior. They offer a good selection of cask, keg and bottles from craft breweries. They also tend to have different beer selection than the rest of London. Useful to note their website usually shows what beers they currently have on. Last visit I consumed Cantillon and Magic Rock Salty lime on draft, so how could I complain? Food looks tasty, but have not yet partaken. A really solid beer destination.

Visited for the first time on Thursday 21st Feb ’13 between 5.15 - 6pm.
Sinlge room with a central bar, seating area runs around either side of the bar. Wooden floors and benches. A big board to the left of the bar, as you face it, displays all the beers. Good concept - large tpye and easy to read.
The rear beer garden looked nice but didn’t venture out due to it being a little cold.
To the business end - good choice of cask and keg, mixture of local London brewers, UK regional micro’s and overseas offerings.
Decent enough bottle list but not overly exciting.
When we arrived at 5.15pm we were the only people there, another 6 or 7 had arrived by 6pm, so I was a little surprised it was this quiet for a Thursday despite it being a little on the early side.
A little too dimly lit for miy liking, difficult to see the colour of your beer at times!
Service was fine but couldn’t really fail bearing in mind we were the only punters on arrival!
Ambiance defaults to 3 - I’ll give it another go on a busier night.
CAMRA discount 50p / pint.
Overall I liked this place, looks good, good range - just surprised how dead it was !
Update from 19/09/13. Visited around 5pm on a Thursday so still fairly quiet (2 other drinkers). I was in search of some of their own beers from the on site Earls Brewery. Chatting to the girl behind the bar she told me she had worked there for 5 weeks and at no point during this tenure had any of their own beers been available so don’t necessarily expect to tick this brewery off via a visit. They do however have a live beers list you can check in advance of a visit online.

This is not a brewpub. May have been ones, but not anymore. They have a fair selection of beer.
