A modern restaurant right on the Regnitz, with a beautiful terrace during summer. They serve Gänstaller Zwickelpils and one of their own beers. The young staff sometimes seemed a bit overwhelmed, but did a fine job. The food is very good and the prices fair for such a restaurant. Worth a visit to have a nice meal!
Ambiance - Clean modern restaurant located with a fantastic view over the river. Almost empty at the time of our visit. Service - Fair. Selection - Some great local beers. The Gänstaller Zwicklpils was outstanding! Food - Very nice. Had the asparagus flammkuchen which I loved. Value - Fair! Additional comments - None!
Nice restaurant that also is a hotel. The room for the restaurant is located just inches from the river, you can by the window and punt the fishes in the river. Servive was nice, the Flamkuchen was great and the beers we had were all of high quality. All in all a place to visit in Bamberg.
Very nice location on the river. However the staff wasn’t very friendly (and extremely slow) and the menu didn’t look very interesting so we ended up walking out without drinking or eating (and we where very hungry).
I sat outside on a lovely, sunny afternoon and drank two of the best beers in the world. Where else can you do that? One of a select few bars with two Ganstaller beers on tap. Do you need any other reason to go? Lunch was great too, and cheap.
This place is AMAZING. Best food I had in Germany during a two week trip. Nice selection of beers. 5-star service and the restaurant and the hotel are really modern and wonderful. Just wish I could go thee more often.
Visited late 12/2014, inter festas. Upscale (for Bamberg), newish and clean bio restaurant & bar location with brunching, lunching and dinner options, - with the aforementioned 2 main draws: 1-upon the closing of Gänstaller the only steady source of his beers in the Bamberg area, 2-planted on its own insula in the Pegnitz. Given its Schweinsbraten surroundings comparatively fancily bio-oriented in its menu (had an excellent Blutwurst/black pudding on blandish undercooked marjory potato dices), higher than average beer prices compared to all its neighbouring Brauhäuser, which is still very fair by Badian pub standards. Young female professional catering staff adds to the brunching crowd, off-the-beaten-rustic-Bamberg-path atmosphere. Somewhat underwhelmed with all draught beers incl. the house beer given their reputation, I’d rather have any oldtimer by Fässla, Schlenkerla, Spezial, Mahr’s or Keesmann in context anytime. Might hang out in their bar or patio area in milder seasonal visits.
Special location, not by the river, but actually in a house in the middle of the the river (Linker Regnitzarm), and only a few steps from Klosterbräu. It’s a modern, hipster place with a bar at the entrance and a restaurant with a great view further inside. Interior in stone and wood. Clean and airy impression. Three bottles and five to six beers on tap to choose from, including a few from Drei Kronen and one from Gänstaller. Friendly service, a bit absent now and then. Clean toilets even with a guest book. Perhaps not a must-visit place, however recommended for the nice location (visited with Finn and people from Haandbryggeriet 10.10.2014).
Beautiful restaurant on the river in Bamberg, just around the corner from Klosterbräu. There are 2 good reasons to come here: food that isn’t German cuisine, and Gänstaller’s Zwickelpils. The service was good, we were helped by two young ladies that spoke good english. The food was quite tasty and affordable (the lunch menu of the day was 5,40 euros if I remember right) Dinner choices seem a bit fancier thus pricier as well. The beer although served from a keg was quite tasty. Would return for sure.
Fortunately I didn’t overlook Eckerts during my stay. It’s a very lovely restaurant and the design of the building flows through effortlessly, with views of the river inside and out. The reason I came here was for the Ganstaller Zwickelpils which warranted numerous glasses. It was busy during the afternoon service however staff were great. It’s pricey to drink here (by way of Bamberg standards) but it’s a nice change of scenery regardless.
