Conpletely agree with jacklís review. BArman knows lot of beers and the 2 I tasted are really good. Have to keep this palce in mind next visit to this area. Only visited top level pub, curious what downstairs has to give.

This place was a totally unexpected pleasant surprise. I bumped into it while trying to head across Wakefield from the Hepworth Gallery to the train station. Fernandes is a two-level establishment. The top floor is a traditional-style brewpub. The interior is lovely, rustic. The ceiling beams are exposed, thereís plenty of nooks to sit in. Thereís about 12 beers on cask, many from Fernandesí own in-house brewery. Other local micros featured. The barman was fantastic, very friendly and happy to give samples. Unfortunately, I wasnít able to visit the downstairs bier keller. Itís allegedly a foreign beer bar that offers German and Belgian brews. The hours of the keller are more limited than the upstairs brewpub. As I donít know exactly whatís offered downstairs, the actual number of taps and bottles currently listed may be short-changing this place. Overall, this place is a real gem. Too bad itís tucked away in a town Iím unlikely to visit again soon!
