A brewpub in a traditional Swiss style. 4 taps with mostly German beer styles (lager, helles, weizen, etc.), thus not particularly interesting, but all 4 taps were very good withing their styles. Food was tasty, prices are reasonable for Basel. Service forgot to add two items on the bill, we pointed it out, they obviously were very happy about that. Rather noisy when it’s crowded. Overall a place well worth visiting if you’re into that kind of beer, but it’s not like you miss out on something if you don’t.
Local brew pub in Klein Basel. Decent local Basel food selection with a few local beers (including a seasonal or two) on tap. Decent place, with decent local beer and food. Nothing special and certainly not "craft" beer.
Cracking pub away from most of the tourist dross, snuck down a street bordering the river. Pub is split between two buildings both with their own beer garden and service style.
Ueli beers are available and on my visit Ueli Mac beer was available, an English beer! Not sure the name was right, however the beer was very pleasant.
Food also was good and plenty of choice for my companions. Service was friendly and prompt.
Not too silly a price for Basel, although not the cheapest either.
Your first stop in Basel.
Located in the Altstadt Kleinbasel on the other side of the Mittlere bridge, second street to the bank of the Rhine River. The place gives a pub-restaurant impression, relatively large with a terrace at the rear, first floor, where we sat down. Four of their beers were available at the time served in different sizes. The food, we had chicken-curry and risotto, was quite alright, but not great in any way. The same goes for the beers as well. Service was polite, but rather inattentive. Some more of their Ueli beers can be bought in bottles. Half-way pleasing (visited with Kjell, Kjetil, Liv and Eva 27.07.2014).
Very expensive since it is in Switzerland. Server was disinterested and there were only about 10 people there with one server. The beer quality is decent, but not worth the price or a special visit. Head there if you are in Basel already though. Wooden tables with various beer memorabilia on the walls.
Small BrewPub & restaurant close to the Rhein. 4 of their own beers on tap which were decent & 4 different bottled beers. Quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Satisfactory service, fantastic food but like everywhere in Switzerland very expensive. Not good enough to go to Basel for but worth a visit if you are there already.
(Visited in 11/2011): Fischerstube is located on Rheingasse between the Wettsteinbrücke and Mittlere Brücke, about a block away from the Rhein.
The interior is narrow with a small bar on the left side and table seating on the right. There is an eclectic collection of artwork and stamped metal. Brewing equipment is visible in the rear.
Fischerstube has 4 of their beers on tap, under the Ueli brand and include a Hefe, Dunkel and a couple Helles style. It appeared there was a bottled beer available as well. All of the beers are decent.
Service on our visit was good. We showed up literally at opening time and as was the case with most of our visits the staff was able to navigate the language barrier and get us beer, and were friendly.
We did not try any food on our visit.
Overall this is a nice spot in a quaint neighborhood and was well worth the walk from where our river cruise docked.
