Massive selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Most of the local stuff is in sixers, could use more singles, but that’s a minor quibble. Worth going out if your way for.

This is the best place to buy beer in the southeast, bar none. No one else even comes close.

Great local bottle shop. Way better than it needs to be, and now with 45 growler taps!

Totally the best ’hidden gym’ in georgia. Fantastic selection of rare and vintage beers. The store itself has no real ’character’ or ’charm’, But the growler shed beside the store is really sweet and makes up for it quite a bit. it’s just a dumpy package store, so the ambiance score suffers. Average prices for most stuff, but they surprisingly didn’t price gouge on the vintage stuff. The staff was VERY helpful and knowledgable about lots of the brews they carried. And the selection was world class. I will ALWAYS be stopping by here when I am passing through Athens.

The best beer store in Athens, period. And probably one of the best in the SE part of the country. They are always finding new and interesting varieties for their shelves. Great selection of US micros, as well as British and other European, including several I haven’t seen in Atlanta. The Belgian section is expanding; most recently, they’ve added many sour and barrel-aged beers. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. In downtown Athens, this is the place to find the best bottled beer available. They also have a growler sales building next door w/ 45 taps.

Going back to this place since graduating (10 + years ago) reminds me of all the beer I couldn’t afford then. The guys are super nice, helpful and knowledgeable. They had great selections and some of the big stouts that go quick in Atlanta where still on the shelves. I highly recommend stopping by to check this out if in Athens.

My friends told me to check this place out. Granted, the outside of the building looks pretty sketchy. I expected to find Jay and Silent Bob hanging out front. Inside I was shocked to see lots of beers that I was led to believe weren’t allowed to be sold in Georgia: Cigar City, over 14% ABV Dogfishhead, etc... The selection was enticing - very impressive. Not nearly the variety you could find in Atlanta but lots of stuff you don’t see ANYWHERE in the state. The clerk was friendly if not necessarily helpful. Young kid - college age. Prices a little higher than I usually see in Atlanta at either Hop City or Green’s but not outrageous. Very lacking in certain categories (small selection of Lambics) relative to ATL but worth the trip for the stuff I cannot find at any of the other retailers I normally visit. A good destination if you happen to be in Athens.

This place is surprising on many levels: The outside seems like a laundromat converted into a beer store, with some cartoon paintings of brands on the walls. Inside: beer mecca. Service was helpful; it seemed like a clerk was out and about helping customers. Selection was just jaw dropping: 300+ bottles doesn’t scratch the surface; I’d say the number is easily twice that. Even better: there was a special shelf for lambic\gueuze... where can I put my mattress? Prices were maybe slightly above average, but still reasonable for quality. I wanted to rent a Chinook helicopter and fly this place home to Louisville, which has it’s own share of excellent beer destinations. It would fit right in, and give the best a run for their money.

This is by far one of the best beer stores I have ever visited. Quaint and unassuming on the outside, this place is bursting with rare and hard to find beers on the inside. Lots of local and regional favorites along with an outstanding selection from around the country and around the world. I would find it difficult to control my spending if I lived closeby as there is just so much beer I wanted to try. Thankfully, I was limited to what I could drink before I traveled and then what would fit in my suitcase. This is another must stop if you are in a 100 mile radius. You wont be disappointed.
