Great selection of beers. Good food. Excellent service.

Sat outside and was almost immediately approached by wait staff. Huge selection of drafts, as well as bottles. Staff stayed attentive the entire visit. Beers came out quick and cool.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon with some friends- had been wanting to drop by this place for quite awhile, but never got around to it. Parking- Yeah, GOOD LUCK. Some street parking, but just use the garage. Patio with a wrap around room that is segmented- definitely a college feel to it, which I’m really not into anymore. Good enough beer selections- so oddities that other places that may have ran out of. Decent food- hit the spot after a few beers. Service- alright, good enough. Price of the brews had it standard highs and lows from what I could see. Overall- just another tick. Nothing less, nothing more.

This is in a touristy shopping area but that’s alright. The outdoor seating is nice at least. I had a tour guide with me that made the experience more enjoyable as I tried some ticks and ordered a soft pretzel with some cheese sauce. The pretzel was fine but I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce. I kept trying to find some Ranger Creek beers, and while most places had a couple they were all out of the damned OPA (oatmeal pale ale); similar situation here. The service was friendly enough even if a bit slow. We didn’t stick around too long, just long enough for a flight and a pretzel.

A pretty wide selection of beers, however I wish they had more stuff on tap. Still a very enjoyable place to go to try a some new brews.

(Visited 08/2012): This Flying Saucer location is in the North Loop of Austin on 47th Street. There is a parking garage and street parking in the surrounding area.
,br> The place has a big patio out front, and inside it is open with a winding bar in the rear and segmented rooms with table and couch seating. Lots of windows allow for people watching. Namesake saucers adorn the walls and there are star-shaped chandeliers and fans. Chalkboard behind the bar listing the beers.

Speaking of the beers, as with other locations there are over 70 taps with lots of local options like (512), Austin Beerworks, Deep Ellum and Real Ale. Other microbreweries are represented too. Lots of bottles too from breweries like Deschutes, Stone, Lagunitas and Green Flash. Some imports as well. Several different flights/samplers are offered included a Texas-specific one.

Service on a busy weekday was pretty good. The server was friendly and had a working knowledge of the beer offerings for the most part.

Food at Flying Saucer is usually decent, and the sandwich I had on this visit was pretty good.

Overall the chain aspect and big crowds kind of detract from this place but I found it suitable for a decent meal and trying a few Texas beers.

I am not normally a fan of pub chains - they seem to be an excuse to demand disocunts from brewers who cannot really afford to give them. However I was really impressed by the FS chain on our flying visit. Good food, loads of beers, paying attention to local producers, giving drinkers a warm place to sit. This one hit the spot.

Visited this spot when I had a few hours to spare before my flight putt of Austin. It’s located away from downtown, so there’s plenty of parking. I sat at the bar, service was prompt and the bartender was a babe. There is plenty of seating outside too.

Im a sucker for these places! This is my 4th FS and i am really impressed by this one. lots of great taps mostly texas and imports however, they have a few rare ones from time to time. they have Boulevard Love Child #2 in bottles and im kicking myself that i didnt get it! Very friendly, attractive and knowledgeable waitresses doesnt hurt either! A must stop in Austin if you ask me.

Not too much to say about this place, other than it is pretty much like all the other Flying Saucer locations I have been to. That is not a bad thing, since they have 80+ beers on tap plus a ton in bottles. Food is decent, but this place is all about the beer. This is located within five minutes of Black Star and Draught House, and only a little further from North by Northwest.
