62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20
Kind of hard to rate here, because its an outstanding place in every way except for beer (only 5 taps, all local). This is a chocolate lounge and chocolate drinks and desserts are the focus. So my low-ish rating is a bit misleading - as a place to go in Asheville itís highly recommended, but if you are on a beer only type tour, you can skip it.

Why is this place listed? They have 4 taps, only 3 had beer that didnít complement the chocolate. I had the hot chocolate and a nibby brownie (bone dry brownie with chocolate nibs) for an outrageous $8. I didnít have the service problems of DiarmaidBHK, but I watched as they would serve me immediately at the counter and ignored him for 10 minutes. Tacky. I would rather go to chocolate fetish, for there much tastier, though probably less vegan, chocolate. But hey, this is a beer review and Iíve barely mention beer, so that should tell you something.

This place has a coffee shop vibe. They have 4 taps of local craft so obviously not a destination place of any sort for beer. They have a lot of artisanal chocolate bars and they make truffles and baked goods which look quite delectable. In fact I was going to buy a half dozen truffles, a brownie, and a bottled water but after standing at the counter for what seemed like an eternity and being ignored by the 6-7 people behind the counter I decided I didnít need their chocolate or anything else these fucking assholes sell. Thankfully the thirsty monk is just a couple of blocks away.

68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 11/20
While this is a really cool place, it is not a beer destination. The 5 taps are devoted solely to local brews, but that is nothing out of the ordinary in downtown Asheville. There are dozens of bars with a better beer selection. I come here for the best selection of chocolate Iíve ever seen, and Iím not even a die hard chocolate eater. They have interesting treats such as bacon ice cream or cayenne truffles or stout floats. The ambiance is very warm and inviting all in chocolate-colored surroundings. I enjoyed my last visit upstairs in the morning drinking some tea and having bacon ice cream. But, yeah, if youíre doing an Asheville brew tour there are well into the double digits better places to explore the beer scene.

This is a chiclatier in the center of Asheville that has five local brews, all on tap, from Pisgah, Catawba and Green Man, but oddly enough none from French Broad. They also do a beer drink of sorts, with 10 ounces of beer, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a shot of espresso and house made chocolate sauce. Seriously.
