72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (389) London, England | February 8, 2013 Nice place. Some interesting stuff on cask - and there were eight casks on offer. Average prices, fine staff, VERY good music. Good vibes all around. Lots of wood. The pub has a very open feel to it. A worthwhile stop on the Cambridge pub circuit and, more specifically, the Mill Road stretch. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 lada66 (131) Savonlinna, Finland | October 1, 2012 Very quick stop for Bays Gold 4,3% (2010). | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 Fin (368) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | April 16, 2012 Having read the local CAMRA publication in which this pub along with the The Devonshire, The Six Bells (Fulbourn) and another pub at Swavesey (Swan perhaps?) were alll in the last four for the local branches pub of the year we (me & Loz) intended to get to the other three having visited The Devonshire yesterday. We cycled from Cabbage Moors campsite which is situated in the Trumpington/Great Shelford to The Six Bells at Fulbourn (another of the four selected) first and then on into Cambridge cycle path all the way until Cherry Hinton and then some cycle path and then road along Mill Road. This would probably have been above the Six Bells in my selection and shows the strength in depth of The Mill Road area for pubs. The beers were not staggeringly exciting but the Titanic 1912 was very good, the Mordue Spring Tyne not quite so good, though this was more a fault in the beer (bit too buttery) rather than a fault in the landlords cellaring qualities. This pub seemed quite roomy and bigger than it ought to be considering the housing density around it. Friendly and welcoming and being so close to the Cambridge Blue, Live and Let Live & Kingstone Arms as well as the Devonshire it really would be on any Mill Road crawl of mine. |
