86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 jsquire (120) St. Marys, Ohio | May 9, 2013 This is a great brew pub.. I’ve been coming here for many years and it is always a good time with good food and good beer. They have a large patio for outside dining, and the bar room feels like an old preprohibition place. The stilton cheese soup is great. They have most of the line up on tap all the time, with some pub only handles. Parking sucks especially if the lot is full, and the food is not cheap, but it is worth a stop. Try to arrange to be on the tour. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 devman171 (50) Annapolis , Maryland | April 24, 2013 Cool brewpub, easy location but closed Sunday!?1?! did a big sampler and pretzel which were awesome! | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Beerman6686 (92) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | November 5, 2012 So my scores are all over the place for this one for different reasons. Ambiance is top notch, original old wood elliot and ness bar on the entry level, great vintage eating area upstairs, and awesome caverns downstairs, really nice place. Service was very good the few tiems ive been here and never been disappointed. Selections is pretty solid, only their beers on tap, but have all the staples, plus seasonal and a few one off brew pub only beers. Food is very veryt good, but are served in small portions. Vlaue was tough because the beers are well worth it, good, and fairly priced, but the food, while tasy, was ridiculously expensive, especially considering how much you get. Overall, still worth stopping for drinks and atmosphere, but I would suggest eating somewhere else first if going for dinner. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 vipinvelp (90) Velp, Netherlands | October 17, 2012 Great place with a great selection of own beers. We ordered the sampler of all beers avaIable, tasted 5 and they were just great. Food is OK but selection less. But then this is a brewery. Good selection also in their shop. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 DoublEE (6) South Euclid, Ohio | August 1, 2012 Great food...great beer. We had the stuffed peppers as an appetizer, the pretzel-crusted chicken and a burger. All were great. You can’t go wrong at this place. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 fiveacestx (57) Texas | June 21, 2012 This restaurant/brewery was an awesome place to be before the Indians game. Got some chow and an IPA and took the "Fatty Wagon" shuttle to the game and back for a few greenbacks. Visited on a weekday. It’s probably overwhelmed on the weekend. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 cratez (147) Toronto, Ontario | June 15, 2012 When I visited: May 2012.
What I had: The Wright Pils (draught), Commodore Perry IPA (draught), Holy Moses White Ale (draught), Grilled Bratwurst & Pierogies, Margherita Pub Pizza and white wine for the lady.
What I liked: Beautiful outdoor patio, delicious food, superb beer lineup that covers a wide range of styles, interesting one-offs, tried two GLB brews that I hadn’t sampled before, bartenders provided warm and timely service, cozy ambiance downstairs.
What I disliked: no guest taps or bottles, slow service on the patio, brewery attracts some "Bud Light" types due to central touristy location.
Would I go back? Yes.
Overall Rating: 84 | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 tcanimal987 (10) , | June 13, 2012 I loved this place and I will for sure miss it! Had to move to get a new job but I NEED to come back and visit, the blackout stout haunts my soul it’s that good | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 barak316 (15) Elyria, Ohio | May 6, 2012 Not bad. Their "pub only" brews can be quite delicious. The everyday beers are meh. Love the "beer cellar" room downstairs. Definitely worth the stop when in town but dont expect to be blown away. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 UDBeernut (90) Near Buffalo, New York | April 28, 2012 Brewery: Do the tour, its free and fun
Pub: Large resuruant with two bars, on when you immediatly walk in and one down the steps to the right. This place fillls up almost nightly and its best to make reservations ahead. Bar up stairs features holes where Elliot Ness was shot at. Bar down stairs is like a celler and usually not quite as crowded. Food is upscale pub fare and tasty. Never a problme with service during my 3 years coming here. Lots of fun. |
