72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 mnmike (31) Minnesota | April 24, 2013 Major dive - but that’s what I like about the place. Located in the hoppin’ NE neighborhood for beer lovers. This place has character but could put some off. Excellent rare beers show up here. Your beer may be served with a gruff and scowl, but that’s OK. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 14/20 ElGaucho (207) Minnetonka, Minnesota | February 9, 2013 I’ve been to Grumpy’s several times with the first time being when Stone just entered the Minnesota market and they had a release party. This is your typical neighborhood corner dive bar, with the notable exception that they have a good beer list. Service has been both good and slow, as there is no table service so you order from the bartender. Tap list isn’t huge but what they have is quality. Not a place to go out of your way for, but now that there’s a myriad of beer destinations in that part of town, it’s an easy stop and should be included in your Nordeast pub crawl. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 3/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Atom (44) Minneapolis, Minnesota | December 31, 2011 I’ve found myself here alot, it’s grown on me. Its a small neighborhood dive. The kind of dive you love. Its a small place that sometimes can get too crowded. Great selection and rotation of taps. Seasonals, always Surly, Firkins, crafts beer next to PBR tall boys. Only frozen pizza’s for food, but great beer and usually a great vibe. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 BVery (323) Burnsville, Minnesota | October 17, 2011 Awesome little dive bar in NE Minneapolis. Usually have a few good craft taps on, and I was able to attend a craft beer tasting event (Alaskan Brewing) here. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 JK (206) Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota | April 20, 2011 They have a few good taps, a few Surly beers and others that rotate, but there are not very many of them. Expensive beers, no food. Like the downtown location, one of the worst bathrooms in the Twin Cities. Bartenders have always been cool. Far from a beer destination, but they have a few things to enjoy. Only food is frozen pizza. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 mattyb83 (19) Minnesota | March 27, 2011 Any bar that has Bells Two Hearted on tap constantly is good in my book. This has a definite neighborhood bar feel to it. Small and dark with cheap cans of pabst and hamms always on tap, but this also has some great selection of craft beer. Usually will have a bunch of great midwest beers on tap from places like founders, goose island, and of course surly. Not much in terms of food except for the frozen pizzas they have. Mainly a great place to hang out when in the neighborhood, but it is not a place one would need to make a special trip to. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 mtjoseph (10) Murderapolis, Minnesota | March 6, 2011| Updated August 19, 2011 Grumpy’s NE is a great neighborhood bar. It has the feel of a really good dive bar, but the beer selection of a great beer bar. I’m not talking about multiple domestic tall boys, which they do have a great selection of, but that of their craft selection! They are constantly rotating taps which is what I love. Everything I go in there, there is something new on tap. Local favorites and international goodies can be found on tap including all the Surly beers, Urthel Hop-it, and Samichlaus just to name a few. And this is a neighborhood bar! How awesome. The service can be great, but it depends on the night. All in all, this is one of the best neighborhood bars. A nice, clean dive bar, with a kick ass beer selection. Not to forget the KILLER jukebox! |
