Brown, stylish and a focus on Norwegian craft beer and pub food. Was probably the best place in Oslo som years ago, but the competition has been fierce. Håndverkerstuene now lacks a decent tap and bottle list to set them apart, but their food and beer pairings is wort a visit.

Pretty good selction of Norwegian beers and good food. Probably not a place to go if you just want to rate lots of beers, but if you want to enjoy a good meal in a nice cosy restaurant and drink good beer and get good service, then it’s an excellent place.

New review: The place has become a bit of a regular for me, mainly since this was the first really good beer spot in Oslo back in 2010. Since then things have slowly boiled down a little, and is no longer as exciting as it was. From sporting a wide selection from a lot of exciting breweries around the world on tap, they now focus on Nordic brews - which of course is a good thing, but half of these seems to be the likes of Ægir IPA, Nøgne Ø Blonde etc. which you will find in any decent pub these days (which of course also is a good thing). The problem is, however, that you’re less likely to find something really exciting here - compared to places like Schous, Cafe Sara, Jekyl & Hyde, even Amundsens or Whiskey Bar. The rotation seems to be too very infrequent, I’ve come back after a few months and found pretty much the same selection as last time. The bottle menu is pretty good though. It is no longer the best place for really exciting beer in Oslo in my opinion, but still worth a visit. The food is still very good. ... Old review from around 2010: Nice and good looking restaurant/pub. I haven’t had their food yet, but I hear it’s excellent. The selection of beer is very impressive, six norwegian micros on tap. The prices are pretty high, which is impossible to avoid in this country. But I’d say it’s well worth spending half your wage/student loan on beer of very high quality. The service was outstanding.

Nice place. Only went there for a beer but next time I’ll try their food. Good beers on tap and a large bottle selection, I think all beers (or almost all) were scandinavian.

One of the best beer bar in Oslo in a parallel street to Karl Johan (the main shopping street). This pub has the ambiance spot on imho. The service is nice, the beers on tap could be better and a bigger tap selection wouldn’t hurt but its all ok. The bottled selection of beers are viewable by all customers due to open glass refrigerators so you can actually walk around inspecting the bottle selection without having to go behind the bar :-) The most impressing thing about this restaurant/bar besides the ambiance is the food and the menu!! They get an awesome food menu with recommended beers to the food as well!! This is a thing I would love to have on more bars in Norway! The bottle selection is awesome and makes up a bit for what it’s lacking on tap! Definately a go to place if you are visiting Oslo!

Great place in the heart of the city. Huge selection of scandinavian craft beer as well as belgian sours. Some of the staff seemed to have good knowledge about beer. The food looked very nice, but the kitchen was closed when I went there.
