As a place to buy beer, it’s not really that bad, especially for a supermarket. All the big HEB stores around SA actually have a fair selection of craft beers. The Babcock store has been willing to help with special orders if you ask. You can certainly go into this store and come out with quality beer. There is DFH, Stone, Alaskan, Deschutes, Brooklyn, Lagunitas, and numerous others (I can’t remember them all). Prices seem to vary, but some are a great value, while some are a little higher than other places across the country. Overall it’s a decent place to pick up some beer, although not all of the craft beers are kept cold (many are though). Food wise it’s a huge grocery store, so obviously it scores high there.

Not a bad selection for a regular HEB. The lower volume "craft" beers are generally a bit pricier than Specs or Gabriels, but the popular stuff is competitive. Unfortunately some of the beer I want to buy from here I will never actually do because they keep it on the dry (warm) shelf, a few feet from the massive refrigerated case of Bud Light.
