78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 77ships (41) Antwerpen, Belgium | March 10, 2013 Het Distict is located about 20 min. or so by public transport from the centre of Antwerp with a bustop very close to the establishment. Do mind that the busses appear to run only once an hour. It is a more slightly upscale restaurant that has recently expanded their beer menu thanks to Kraddel on RB who works here. The beer menu is not extravagant but certainly well-balanced & well-build ranging from the more usual suspects like Duvel, La Chouffe to more interesting choices like Belle-Fluer or Triporteur from Heaven plus the likes of 3F Gueze, Cantillon Kriek and Tsjeeses. Nothing too rare and maybe not much new if you are more into Belgian beers but definitely solid and most options will go well with food. Kraddel was certainly a competent server, he is also open to IP trades here and maybe opening something that is off-menu for you if asked in advance. He is trying to promote the idea of fine dining with fine beer which is certainly not a bad cause and one that many would agree with on here. Wine list appears to be significantly more extensive but that is less my thing. Whisky list is less my forte as well, seems like nothing to rare but fine more standard choices. Main courses are around 25 euro and look quite delicious. I had a crème brûlée here which was delicious. If you are looking something in the medium price-range, eating here with a couple of beers might be quite swell. This is a respectable list, maybe bit less of a forte to the more ticking part of RB. There are always trades to be had here etc. The prices for beer are certainly fair and what one should expect to encounter elsewhere. |
