86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 VIBhunter (5) Wisconsin | May 20, 2013 The location and building is very interesting and has a great history to it. Beer selection is abundant but availability of a particular beer could be a hit or miss because of the number of growing craft drinkers out there. Living in St. Croix County this is the place I look for my beers. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 FrostyTiger (7) Minnesota | February 2, 2013 The Hudson liquor stores stay in business primarily because of the people like me who come across the river from MN to buy New Glarus, The Bruery, Oscar Blues and Hoppin’ Frog. The Nova isn’t very large and their total bottle count isn’t that impressive but what makes this a great place is their selection is focused on great beer that you want to drink. There are so many liquor stores I go to regularly that have hundreds of different beers on their shelves that probably sit there for a long time because most people don’t purchase them. The Nova just focuses on the stuff that sells and for that they do a good job. I don’t think I’ve ever went in here and didn’t find something to purchase. They carry about 7 different Bruery beers, 6 or so Hoppin’ Frog, the full line of New Glarus and the full line of Oscar Blues beer. They also just started doing growler fills of Toppling Goliath which is one of the most talked about up and coming breweries. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 northropfrye (97) Steinbach, Manitoba | January 6, 2013| Updated January 7, 2013 A must visit place when in Twin Cities area to grab a few things not available in Minnesota. | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 cards04 (52) Steinbach, Manitoba | January 6, 2013| Updated January 7, 2013 Very small, but excellent selection. Incouding new glarus and hoppin’ frog. Staff was friendly. Great place to stop for quality stuff! | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 khoffman43 (70) Bloomington, Minnesota | November 3, 2012| Updated January 7, 2013 All the new glarus as singles, the bruery, oskar blues and hoppin frog available. Niceb build your own 6 packs and everything in coolers. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 bytemesis (214) Sunnyvale, California | October 31, 2012 Stopped here right after heritage liquors, and really, it doesn’t compare. Much smaller selection, more cramped. Staff is friendly and helpful, and of course they are on the right side of the river to get New Glarus, but otherwise i see no compelling reason to trek from the cities. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 BeerIsGreat12 (4) , | October 8, 2012 This is a pretty good store. I’m not as massive of a fan as some people are. The beer corner is tiny and really, they don’t have that many selections of beer compared to the best places in the Twin Cities. It feels like you go into a cave whenever you go into this store. It’s dark, damp, concrete, etc. Not saying that’s bad that’s just the ambiance of this place. This is definitely the go-to destination if you are coming from MN and want to try and get some beers you can’t find in MN. I give them props because they seem to have a good deal with Hoppin’ Frog where this is the only place in town who gets a lot of their special releases. So, it’s worth it a lot of times just for that reason. BUT, sometimes on some beers they actually get less than other places in town. It’s worth a stop for sure if you are in town but don’t expect beer Nirvana. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 jcnielsen (138) Kansas City, Missouri | September 20, 2012 Nice selection for picking up New Glarus and other Wisconsin beers while visiting the Twin Cities. Cool building and they have a bunch of the beer as single bottles. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 jmikolich (84) North Ridgeville, Ohio | August 22, 2012 I needed my Belgian Red/Raspberry Tart fix and they are right across the lake. What a great little place in a super quaint town. Tightly packed in a small area was all their beer, including some sale racks, floor displays coolers and shelves. Beer arranged by brewery. Had some good stuff, including Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast Calvados and oddities from New Glarus. Staff was friendly and offered my boxes, bags, and anything else I wanted. Prices were fair for MSP area. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Savvy1982 (70) Lethbridge, Alberta | May 13, 2012 Very cool ambiance to this place, they’ve been around a long time, and it shows Very "lived in" feel, which I really dug. Selection was solid, and worth the drive from Minneapolis, lots of New Glarus, which is what I drove there for, but sadly lacing in 3 Floyds, though I was able to get a growler of Alpha King, which was pretty sweet. Totally worth a stop, as the selection is appreciably different from the stores in Minneapolis |
