Great place for Hamburg! Granted, this is Germany, so the styles available are going to be pretty limited. However, the hofbraeuhaus offers a good range of German styles (Helles, Dunkel, Weisse, Seasonals such as Oktoberfest, etc.). The food is wonderful - I recommend the Obatzter & Pretzels for an appetizer and the Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) for your main course. If I’m limited to drinking lagers, I at least prefer drinking them out of 1 Liter glasses and accompanied with the ambiance of this German staple. Prost!

The restaurant is huge and staff is dressed in traditional Bavarian clothes. Skirts for waitresses and lederhosen for the waiters. Food is traditional Bavarian as well. You can get apfelstrudel and germknödel for dessert. Beers are regulars from HB München. Next door there is a small bar where you unfortunately are allowed to smoke, so I will recommend to go to the restaurant.

This is a very Bavarian beerhall. I visited on a Saturday evening where there was live music consisting of a drummer and a keyboard player playing genuine schlager music. The other guests were in a great mood and singing along to most of the songs. Part of me hated the place but in a way I couldn’t help but like it anyway because of all the happy guests. The service was efficient and dressed in lederhosen or dirndl. They had around 10 of their own beers on either tap or bottle. I didn’t eat.

It’s almost like an oktober-fest. Lot and lot of people, big beers, singing, leder-hosen und Heidi’s. Has only Hofbräu beers, but that’s ok.

Visited on a Sunday in October 2011. The ambiance was good, this is a large place with a tradtional German beer hall interior. The place was almost packed with glad people, some of them singing during the Sunday Brunch. Really a great experience, I have never witnessed something similar in Sweden early on a Sunday. The food was good traditional Bavarian food, the beers that I drank were ok, but please note that there is no local beer in this place, only beer from Hofbräu. A glass of 0,5 liter Hofbräu München Schwarze Weisse did cost 3.80 EUR. Very cheap for a poor chap from Sweden.

Ginormous Munich restaurant. Looks Bavarian and imports 5 of their beers. Steer clear if you’re looking for breweries or beer from Hamburg.
