80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Schlenkerla (203) , Austria | February 9, 2013 We visited this place late 2011 after a round of Golf at Sandpiper. Brewery is located in a shopping area which does not create a great atmosphere. However we were very positively surprised by their beer selection and beer quality. Burgers are very good! | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 t0rin0 (184) La Verne, California | December 22, 2012 Visited 5 times now, most recently last night (12/21/12).
The place is always full and noisy and the service is often times slow, but it’s a fun place to hang out which is why there are so many people in there. Well that might because this is place is in Isla Vista which is a major party town (UCSB).
The food is pretty good and prices are decently high, which is what I’d expect from a busy successful restaurant. Beer prices are high too but now they’ve shrunk the sample sizes so you pay less even if you are still paying the same per ounce of beer.
The beer is usually pretty good. There have been a couple of duds here and there but most of their beers are nice. The "white IPA" is good, the 543 Toronado IPA is good (really good), hell, all their hoppy beers are good. Noah from Pizza Port San Clemente is now the brewer there which would explain why the hoppy beers are getting better. The other styles are nice too.
Despite the scores being low in the other categories I enjoy this place and will continue to come back when passing through Santa Barbara. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 ekoerper (37) Iowa | September 18, 2012 Nice, well-maintained pub/restaurant. A solid selection of house brews, sampler flights available for a reasonable price, decent food, ample parking. Definitely worth a visit. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 womencantsail (390) Garbage Grove, California | August 15, 2012 Located in a shopping center just off of 101. Pretty easy to spot. Nice spacious interior, plenty of patio seating. The bar is straight ahead, sort of a bent L shape. The bar staff has always been friendly. They do flights of 6 of all their house beers, of which there are many. The beers are usually pretty good and the prices are quite fair on beer. Food is nice, but a little pricey. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 daknole (300) Scottsdale, Arizona | June 16, 2012 Very nice and very clean place. Good menu. Service was nice, the bar staff knew their beer and took care of us well. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 JPDurden24 (110) Chandler, Arizona | June 10, 2012 Second stop on the way home from a road trip, nice restaurant, beer is good, but missing a stout on the list. Taquitos were excellent. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 JohnC (147) Mission Viejo, California | March 18, 2012 My wife and I stopped here for lunch on the way to Paso Robles. It’s a nice, clean, comfortable place. The beer selection was great; however, you could take non-beer drinkers here and they’d enjoy it. The food was quite good: I had a grilled fish sandwich. My wife got a really nice salad.
The only downside was that it took a long time for our food to come out.
On another note: there’s plenty of parking. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 craftbeerdesign (100) Alpharetta, Georgia | July 11, 2011 stopped in here for a tasting... did not eat, so can’t comment on their food. It is a nice brewpub in a strip mall in Goleta (near Santa Barbara). We sat at the bar - very comfortable - a few tvs around - nice people to chat with - bartender was nice and knowledgable. Their Patterson Porter is really good as well as their high grav. beers. The overall tap list is diverse in styles and they also feature a couple guest taps - Green Flash and Sierra Nevada were on when I was there. Nice bathrooms. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 peteinSD (42) San Diego, California | April 11, 2011 A few times I year I stop in here on my way up north. On each visit it seems like the beer is better than the last. I really like their hoppy beers and they also do some tasty darker beers. The food is good and fairly priced. Contrary to some of the comments, I have found the service excellent. I tried their IIPA on my last visit and while it was decent I could tell it was not that fresh - the waitress swapped the beer out for a better one no questions asked. Definitely worth a visit. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 APHokie (6) | October 30, 2010 Great food, great beer, horrible service. Best way to sum up this place. |
