76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 JStax (72) Devola/Marietta, Ohio | December 12, 2012 Stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Drove right by the place the first time. It’s in an industrial park type area. The sign doesn’t draw much attention to itself. It is right on the highway, though, so if you know where you’re going, you wouldn’t have trouble getting there. They were bottling the day I got there. All the beer they have for sale is in a cooler right inside the entrance. They have about every beer they make available. The one I didn’t see in the cooler was the one they were bottling that day, and they pulled a couple off the line and gave them to me. Freshest stuff you can get, they said. How often can you say you have a beer with a bottling date of the day you purchase it? The service here was great. Pricing was about what you would pay at a bottle shop. I felt like I was paying a little less, bu upon further inspection, it was about the same. They had t-shirts and hats available as well. Pricing is about what I’ve seen at other breweries for the same thing. When I was talking to the guy that rung me out, he said they were working on adding a taproom to be open some time in the coming year. That will be awesome. I’ll have to come back to check that out. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 fiver29 (52) Cleveland, Ohio | April 8, 2012 Brewery tucked away in an industrial parkway off the freeway. You walk right into the brewery. You can see them bottling beer by hand as you pick out your beer. They only sell their bottled beers. No discounts for buying on site. You pay same price as you would pay at any store. There is no food or tasting room. Its just a brewery to stop in a buy their stuff. That’s it nothing else. They are always super nice and helpful. Fred is always guarded about everything he does which is a bummer. But hey. Its his place so I guess he can do what he wants. Overall its the best place to stop for the freshest possible Hoppin Frog beers. And you can pretty much get everything they offer and sometimes more. They make some great beer. I just wish some of their bottles weren’t so expensive. And I also wish they’d learn how to run a beer release. Like not putting every brewery release beer into distribution a week later. I don’t ever plan on going to another ’brewery only’ release again because of that. Still, they brew great beer. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 18/20 mandalarules (7) Akron, Ohio | November 26, 2011 Another one of my ratings that won’t count but I had the liberty of adding this place to ratebeer so I thought I should be the first to review it. First of all I dont ’know how no one has added this brewery to places yet. This is one of the best breweries in the world. I’m not saying this because I’m an Akron native, but because the beers that are produced out of this small but quaint facility are absolutely magnificent. The staff is friendly and courteous and the owner Fred is always there when I pick up beers if you wanna chat it up or take a small tour of the facility. If you follow them on any social network site you can get ahold of their limited edition and seasonal releases. I always pick up serveral for myself and if anyone wants to trade brews. Overall I’m just glad to have this place in driving distance and if your in the area call ahead and stop by you won’t be disappointed. |
