It may be an English theme pub but it’s also a great bar, this would be my local if I lived in Portland, great selection of beers. Strangely the choice of Englidh beers is s**t - Newcastle Brown? Nobody in England drinks that nowadays!

I frequent the HBP quite often, because it’s honestly one of the best brewpubs in Portland if not THE best. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip: you walk in and feel like you’ve stepped into a real English pub, with tin beer signs all over the walls and people playing darts over in the corner. The service is great (although it’d be better if they had British accents!) and the food is incredible... especially the authentic fish and chips! But what really makes this a must-hit beer stop is the 50+ beers they have on tap! And with Belmont Station just a few blocks away, there’s absolutely no reason why anyone who loves beer shouldn’t stop here. It really is one of the reasons Portland is so synonymous with craft beer.

Horse Brass is one of the leading reasons why Portland is the beer mecca of the USA. Steeped in history and tradition and soaked with beer culture. Long Live HBP

Awesome pub. The food is decent. The beer selection is spectacular. They have some 20 oz. beers for cheap. The facilities are kind of nasty. However, the amalgam of all of what I’ve mentioned, makes this one of my favorite places in Portland. It’s close by where I work, when I’m down in Portland, so that’s an added bonus. Overall, fantastic place, that I love.

Visited around mid day on Weds 07/11/12. Place was fairly busy and most folks were eating. We sat at the bar and drank for an hour or so. Bar tender was great fun and gave us a few samples and chatted away to us. Decent selection with 2 cask dispense and around 50 taps. Beer menu in 2 parts. Regular tap menu and guest tap menu. Eelectronic board as you enter - ’think’ but memory fades, this just displayed the guest taps? Decor is mock English pub thing - not a bad stab at it to be fair! Definately come back here.

Nice pub in the middle of suburb. Friendly staff and very good burgers – one can really taste the grilled meat. Good tap selection served in half or full pints.

Old style English pub which is large, cozy, dingy and dated. That is what English style pubs are, and I am a fan. Service varies, the staff are very good but depending on the crowd it can vary. If you like beer, there is very few places with a better selection in my opinion. They also do many events and blind tastings. Food is standard English fare, but good quality. Fish and chips and the Scotch egg are my favourites.

One of those places where you can feel the history when you walk in. Great selection of taps that changes regularly. Went twice during my week and Portland and the waitstaff was great both times. Typical English pub fare. I would be a regular here if I lived in Portland. Very cool place.

Cozy, lot of wood paneling. Dimly lit as it should be, actually put sunglasses on when I left as the overcast was a little tough. Had a Scotch egg, and few glasses of cask ale. Good service, great beer. Should have spent a little more time here. Beers were well priced, 1/2 pours offered of everything.

Still one of the best beer bars/pubs I have been to. Rivals Toronado in it’s old-school west coast feel, but in a more English way and with maybe an even better beer selection. I was treated like family and just can’t say enough about this place. It’s sad that Don Younger has left us, but hopefully Horse Brass continues to be a fitting memorial for years to come.
