84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 argo0 (205) Washington DC | May 12, 2013 A must-stop if ever you’re in Bratislava -- it has the best set of taps around. It’s a great place to while an evening away. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 Geiserich (50) Vienna, Austria | May 10, 2013 Lovely beer selection with different IPA’s from Slovakia, Czech Republic and Punk IPA on tap! Nice selection of other slovakian and czech beers. Nice food, nice location with a pleasant beer garden. Top adress in Bratislava. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 Pallieter85 (15) , Belgium | March 14, 2013 Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great food for a very fair price. Nice interior full of beer posters/advertisements and special bottles. Good selection of beers. And most of all I met some really nice people there. Will go back to this place anytime I’m in Bratislava! | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | December 16, 2012 Easily the best beer venue in Bratislava. Richtar Jakub is a fairly basic looking cellar bar that could easily be missed at street level. Inside is fairly dark and dingy, but then again it’s all about the beer. They had plenty of Slovak and Czech beer I have never heard of/could pronounce on tap. Beer selection is displayed on a blackboard on the wall. The house beers are particularly good. They also had some international stuff such BrewDog in bottles. There isn’t even an actual bar here just taps on the wall! Server was friendly and attentive (even though we didn’t speak the same language). Kind of reminds me of the excellent Zly Časy in Prague. They also do snacks and basic food. An interesting venue for sure and an essential visit in Bratislava. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 heavy (61) Split, Croatia | October 21, 2012 Excellent, world class pub. Quite small, so I can easily imagine problems with finding place to sit at evenings. Selection is great and they have very frequent rotation of their taps, always something that’s very scarce, mostly from Slovakia and Czech R. Prices are very good, they also appreciate meads and ciders. Staff is excellent and helpful. Was there at RBESG so we had special food I believe, which was very good, great beer pairings! Simply a must while in Bratislava! | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 Christian (197) Odense, Denmark | August 12, 2012 RBESG 2012 - day 2 and 3. Lovely little cellar bar that looks like a place you’d want to hang out if you lived here. A quite wide range of beers, and with some rotation too, but unfortunately in pretty bad shape. The beer may have been mediocre to begin with, but more than one also came out of a dirty tap. They have some pretty nice mead though! | 48 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 10/20 Dedollewaitor (274) Odense, Denmark | August 7, 2012 Not overly impressed with this one. The beers were in terrible condition. Had 6,7 the first visit which were all completely off meaning infected/unclean probably beacuse of the taps. Their 2 own house beers were "the cleanest" and decent. They had Brewdog Hardcore IPA as a special which for Slovakia could be a scoop. I managed to get a Kout 10’ which was served from a rotten/unclean tap. Horrible experience. Not much English are being spoken. You get the ticks but the beers are in really bad shape. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Borresteijn (141) Amsterdam, Netherlands | July 31, 2012 Visited twice during RBESG’12, one day they reserved a part of their pub for our grand tasting, many thanks for that! It’s not in the nicest of Bratislavian streets, but the bar is nice. It has a bit of a sports canteen feel to it, there is no bar (!), never seen anything like it. Upon entering you walk straight onto the tap wall. Left and right are wooden tables, and there’s a small backroom. The room is well-lit (a bit too much imo), and they play crappy Eastern-European pop-music. Taps were not in prime condition or the beers were just not great, I don’t know. Prices are fine, food was fine too. A place to visit for sure when in Bratislava. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 erickok (87) Tours, France | July 23, 2012 Excellent bar that serves both their own brews as well as others. The Jakub 12 home brew is a great start of your beer visit and the local, regional and international beers will keep you going for a while. Staff was fast and friendly, even with a group of roaring RateBeerians doing their grand tasting. Excellent value too, especially if you;re used to Western European prices. Must visit in this town. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Marko (188) Split, Croatia | July 22, 2012 THE place to go to for beer in Bratislava. A microbrewery, that does above-average stuff, not the best in Bratislava, but still quite nice, and carries some 8 more taps with rare Czech or Slovak stuff (or Hardcore IPA). The Valášek beers stole the show when we visited, and they had Kout 12 (filtered) too. It’s a cider place too, with at least one Czech variety available when we were there, and two really good Slovak meads too. The staff was very good and attentive, props to them for bearing with us. The food is apparently more or less simple pub fare, but what we’ve had was good. It’s a cellar pub, and they really try with paraphernalia, bottles and everything and sometimes it works, sometimes... not, but it’ll get a 5 from me. All in all, just visit it! |
