OK, so it’s not a grocery store, but seriously? Also, the address is wrong, there is no 799 Tucker, it’s 798 and it looks like it’s a gas station convenience store because it IS. They do have a handful of bottles that Tehachapi Liquor doesnt, which is conveniently across the street.

(Visited 06/2008): Howard’s is located at the intersection of the 202 and Tucker Road near downtown Tehachapi. There is a small private lot in front. The exterior is not much to look at. As a matter of fact I never would have bothered stopping in here since it looks like a gas station convenience store, but a local recommended checking it out. The interior looks like a gas station convenience store as well. The beer coolers are on the left side. The beer selection is surprisingly good, possibly the best variety in Tehachapi (which admittedly is not saying a lot). Beers from Stone, Lengthwise, New Belgium, Alaskan, Kona and Nectar are all represented. There are a few decent imports from the UK and Belgium as well. Service here was standard - friendly but not really focused on beer. Overall I would recommend stopping at this spot if for no other reason than to grab a couple regional beers that cannot be found elsewhere.
