76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 WeissGary (18) Glasgow, Scotland | December 28, 2012 Quite a nice ale bar from renowned Scottish brewers the Williams Brothers in the West End of Glasgow (close to the Kelvinbridge subway station). Quite an impressive selection of bottled and draught beers which always includes some fantastic keg and cask brews as well as my regular favourite Maisel’s Weiss (the only pub I have come across to sell on tap). The staff are always friendly and interested in the beer and customer. This is a favourite and regular hang out, it’s worth a visit if your in town! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Bansidhe (4) Perth, Scotland | October 7, 2012 Good selection of the Williams range on tap and in bottle. Nice ambience and even if you go earlier in the evening when it’s pretty quiet, the cosy set up of the room still keeps a nice atmosphere in. Another plus point is that it doesn’t have that pretentious, posh studenty vibe that some places out the West end suffer from.
In terms of food I’ve had pizza and their beer battered onion rings, both of which were very decent and keenly priced. I believe they also do fish & chips and a selection of sausages aswell.
They’ve got a pretty quick turnover of different guest beers so it’s good to keep tabs on their Twitter/Facebook pages to see what’s in then pop in when something you fancy is on tap. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 16/20 JohnRMurdoch (243) Glasgow, Scotland | September 30, 2012 This is a new modern trendy beer bar on Great Western Road Owned by the Williams Brothers. Although it is right next to Kelvinbridge it is quite hard to spot as there is just a door to a stair case leading down to the basement bar. When you get down there you find a small bar with bay windows which open on to the cyclepath overlooking the River Kelvin giving a nice view. There are tables outside which will be great in summer. It has a good selection of Williams brothers beers & guests from modern trendy brewers all on keg. There are bottles too. I like this place as it has all the ingredients to make a great bar. Unfortunaltely I think it will struggle as many people will walk past without even noticing it. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 rjkreid (9) , Scotland | September 13, 2012 Friendly little bar with a great location with the son and daughter of the Williams Bros. clan as patrons. In the arches next to the river with a terrace out over the river. 4-5 house beers (Williams mostly) in cask and keg and about 6 guests on when I was there, mostly keg. Good bottle selection as well from Scotland’s growing craft beer scene and beyond (Cromarty, Kernel, Camden etc). | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 BeerCast_Rich (13) Edinburgh, Scotland | September 10, 2012 Opened September 2012 on the site formerly occupied by Big Blue, Inn Deep is owned by Williams Brothers Brewery and operated by some of their kids and members of staff. In a great location, under the Kelvin Bridge on Gt Western Rd, there’s an outdoor area with tables right by the River Kelvin. Beer list is impressive – 3 cask and at least 9 keg taps. 50/50 Williams Bros to guest beers – this is not a WB Brewery Tap, but clearly they have plenty on offer. They serve pizzas but I didn’t have any, so can’t comment. Others tell me they are very nice. I’d definitely head back – it’s easy to get to, get the subway to Kelvinbridge, exit the station and go left over the bridge, Inn Deep is down the stairs, first door you come to before the chippy. Recommended. |
