58 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 radagast83 (103) Fairfax, Virginia | January 15, 2013 Been here for a few happy hours after work. Beer list is unexceptional - Sam Adams is the only "craft" beer here. Food was enjoyable the times I’ve had it and service has been more than adequate. If you’re looking for a beer experience, I’d look elsewhere. | 54 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | January 15, 2013 Irish pub that gets high scores all around except for selection. Ten taps, all macros except one Sam Adams - interestingly an IPA. With all the new breweries in Virginia, DC and Maryland, there is essentially nonexcuse to not have at least on or two local/regional taps. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Velkyal (70) Charlottesville, Virginia | June 3, 2012 Stopped in for lunch on the way to a conference, it was a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Sat at the bar, excellent staff and a very nicely poured pint of Guinness. Had wings to start and fish n’chips as a main course, delicious fish, some of the best I have had in the States. A place I will go back to when I am in the Arlington again. | 48 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 10/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | January 22, 2012 This is an Irish-style bar located in Arlington with easy access to metro stops. The beer selection is exactly what you would expect for such a location: Guinness, Smithwicks, etc. plus one local brew. I did not try the food so I cannot comment on that. You must go to the bar to order drinks, so service is as good as you. The music was poor; it was a mix of Irish and classic rock, but it was live music. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Tankerkev (1) | July 29, 2011 The perfect place to have a drink and hearty meal in the DC area! Nice pours, nice people, Irish whiskies galore, a fireplace in winter. On top of it all, if you’re DoD or "other," you’ll see an old friend at happy hour. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 jde123 (65) Washington, Washington DC | October 31, 2005| Updated November 1, 2005 A fairly nice place, lot’s of quite comfortable seating in a clean and convivial atmosphere. Not the widest array of beer, but decent enough for your run-of-the-mill Irish pub. They do, however, have an ambe ale that is sold under the restaurants name. When we went there, it was somewhat empty on the restaurant side, which was great for conversation, the strictly bar side of the place is separated by what looked like upscale chicken wire, which was interesting. It was packed and very noisy over there. Nice place to visit. |
