Stopped in after visiting San Rafael for Broken Drum. This is only a few miles down the road but it seems like further because you’re driving out into the country side. Unlike Broken Drum I’d actually heard of these guys before. They bottle some of their offerings and those bottles get circulated around the bay area. The pub is somewhat diner-ish like Broken Drum but a little nicer. We sat at the bar and had some chili and a flight of beers. Actually it was two flights since they had so many on tap. A couple were pretty good but many were just average. Luckily none of them were bad. If you find yourself here during SF Beer Week they might have some barrel aged offerings but I had no such luck that day. Cool place but due to lack of amazing offerings and proximity to other beer destinations I don’t know how often I’ll go back. Service and pricing were average. |
76 Small place with lots of locals, very friendly and "small town-ish" staff. Nice selection of their own beers. |
72 Cool spot - visited here on May 12, 2012. Flights available, service was excellent. Kind of a Denny’s vibe in here. |
86 Hopped up here during beer week 2012 to try some of their beer. Holy smokes, the drive off of hwy 101 to here is through an area I’ve never been through. Very beautiful. I’ll have to make this drive again. Got to the brewpub at 6pm on a Thursday and it was packed but a seat near the bar was somehow open. I love the architecture over the bar area just in front of the brewhouse that helps to showcase that this is where the action is. Even while this place was packed out the staff was hustling in a professional and amazingly friendly way, kudos! I didn’t try any of the food but what I saw looked good. The beer here had a few ‘misses’ but the IIPA and rye Pale Ale were yummers. |
86 Great place with very good beer, a good food selection and average prices. |
80 Very nice hole in the wall. If you don’t know about this place from someone else, you would never even think to stop. Ordered The Paddle, a flight of 6 beers of your choice from their house selections. Really enjoyed their Casey Jones IPA, as well as all of the Stouts available. Their lighter beers (Kolsch and Pale Ale) were mediocre. The food was great and the prices were fair. A bit of a drive from where I live but I am glad I made the trip. Overall a nice little hole in the wall. |
78 This place is cool. Tucked away in Marin area. Very good beer and good food. |
72 (notes from 03/13) Busy, busy place for a Friday evening. Modern looking. Waitstaff friendly and knowledgeable. Food was good, albeit perhaps a little on the pricey side for seafood dishes. |
