I didnt spend much time here because I had already tried most of the beers on tap and it was Ohio Beer Week so there were several other bars to hit for unexplored breweries and beers. The place looked well put together and all the other folks with my party seemed to be having a great time. I did purchase and drink one draft brew. I had to elbow my way up close to the bar to order, but that happens to me everywhere. 59" doesnt seem all that short until its time to order a beer in a crowded brewpub or bar. I remember some TV showing sports and the lighting seemed to be dim. I like all those things. nuff said.

Classic dark wood-heavy brewpub with an expansive selection of beers on tap. With the variety and quality of Jackie Os, youre almost assured at least one gem whenever you go. Id be here a lot if I lived in the area.

8/16/11. Fun place. Street parking so its a little tricky. Ambience is definite low key neighborhood bar. Lots of locals, lots of wood, funky decor, barrels as tables. The restaurant on the other is much bigger but looks pretty much the same. Beers ranged from one bad one to a couple of good ones. The food wasnt too good but someone else got pizza and it looked awesome. The bartender was awesome... she was working the whole room, working really hard but yet was also able to be attentive to everyone. Prices were good. I was disappointed by a lack of their bottles to go. Despite a couple of annoyances I liked this place a great deal and Ill definitely be back.

Stopped by the public house side this time (7/13/14). The place can fit a lot of people so while there were several groups of people there, it didnt seem to crowded. Lots of bros doing soccer chants and whatnot. The bartenders were able to handle me and my beer geekiness and the college pukes with skill. No food on this side that Im aware of. Lots of taps though, and they had 11 house beers and another 8 or 9 guest taps. 5 ounce samples are 1.50-2.00 each and my flight of 8 ended up costing $13. As usual, the beer was top notch. Also, I only gave this place a 74 last time, which is just silly, so Im fixing that now.

Stopped in before heading to RBSG 2014 the next day. Brewpub side was closed until 9 PM for a private party so I only got to hang out in the Public House. Nice variety of house drafts. Only saw one guest tap which was Guinness. Stuck to doing flights which you can order up to 8 at a time. They were serving food in the Public House so maybe they made an exception with the Brewpub closed. Food was good, had the fried cheese curds and a pizza. Service was friendly but a bit slow at times. Easy walk to and from the Ohio University Inn. Enjoyed the visit and look forward to going back next time Im in the area.

Ive been a regular at this bar for several years now while Ive been in school here in good ole Athens. Good company, one of the few bars in Athens that pulls a very diverse crowd. Has the Irish pub feel with plenty of space and a patio thats great in the summer. Always has good live music too! Hands down, probably the best all around menu (food and Bev) in Athens. (Highly recommend the fried fish and pizzas) service is always great at the bar, usually great at tables too. Also one of the few bars that always has steady crowds, even in the summer when the university is on summer break

Stopped by a few nights in a row with gorditoabd during a trip to Ohio U for some work stuff. The place is a fairly loud college bar scene that dies down a bit in the summer. Selection was great, service was excellent and food was so-so. Not bad, not great.

Been to this establishment many times. I went to college in Athens, and although Jackie Os was not around at that time (yes, I am old), I make it a point to visit as much as often, just to go here! Anytime I am in town, Ohio Brew Week, football game, basketball game, visit friends, this is a must stop. Pizza is made with spent grain, meat is organic, from local sources, and what else can you say about the beer. Usually a couple of great guest taps as well. Highly recommend!

Went to the 8th anniversary release. Ive been here a few times and I have enjoyed my journeys to Jackie Os. I am always impressed with their tap list. The food is good, I liked how the kitchen was serving breakfast before a bottle release. The prices are fair and within reason. The staff is usually very friendly and attentive but on the release it was pretty poor. I know I should not judge that based on a beer release but considering I was sitting at the "bar" its a tad unpleasing. I did enjoy the beers a lot and the vibe of the place is very inviting, beautiful wood work all around. Nonetheless I recommend going to Jackie Os, its a great place.

Jackie Os is split into two places within the nearly same physical address. One entrance is the brewpub and the other is the public house. The taps are different, though you can carry your beverages from one to the other, out the back door, up the stairs, across the patio, and down the stairs. Food is served only in the brewpub, though the staff on both sides are quite attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. This is the kind of place every college town needs. The food is quite good is these quaint halls.
