Fortunately not busy when I was there. Flights available. Nice space. Berliners were good, other styles below average.

Good gravy this place gets loud when it's full. Like, can't hear yourself think loud. Maybe some acoustic tiles or something. Service is solid, selection is varied of their own stuff, which is usually ok to good. Price is slightly on the high end for brewery direct consumption. Overall, if you like crowds and noise, by all means check it out, but I recommend going on off hours.

After a three hour journey from Richmond I finally arrived parched and thirsty for beer. On the door, a sign: Taproom Closed for private event. I was dejected but I badly had to pee so I entered walking past the office stiffs in my ripped jeans and Rick and Morty T-shirt. Maybe they would think I was in IT I hoped as I entered the restroom. Upon exit nobody stopped me as I walked up to the bar, the bartenders eager to give me beer. But alas I was too honest and told them about my trivails. “Sorry, you have to leave” came the response to my inquiry to quench my aching palate. I was crestfallen but couldn't move, frozen in place by sadness upon hearing those words thinking my journey was for naught. After a few moments of awkward silence, the kind bar gent offered me a few sips of beer nectar to help me on my journey. I partook. It was enough to get by, but I did not leave fully sated.

I really like this place...tried to get here a couple of other trips but timed it wrong (once was a Sunday when they’re closed). Although the tap room is quite large...and is in the high ceilinged front part of a warehouse brewery...they’ve managed to make very it inviting with wood floors, leather couches, and lots of warm colors. The bar is U-shaped and sizeable. There were 10 beers when I visited this past Saturday earlier afternoon (already getting crowded at 2PM by the way). I tried flight sizes of all 10 and was glad I did. The best way for me to describe how good these beers are is to tell you that their representations of the maltier styles that I am not usually fond of (ex. amber ale, and Belgium strong dark ale) were very enjoyable to me...so that’s saying a lot. Three of the IPA’s were great (didn’t much are for the fourth one...a jalapeno IPA). There was a very enjoyable nelson sauvin hoppy ale on cask. Also, the two stouts were especially well done...the American stout and the barrel aged 2015 imperial espresso stout. After enjoying my beers (very much I might add) I asked if I could take some pictures inside the brewery...and they granted my wish (thanks guys!). The drain floor is one of the nicest I’ve seen with off white hexagonal tiles. There are a considerable amount of brewing vessels and they are canning and selling on site and around the area (definitely a production brewery). I climbed up on the brew deck and got some great pictures. Note that behind the U-shaped bar are large bar-height to ceiling windows that give a great view of the brewing equipment from inside the taproom. I felt the staff was very friendly and helpful. I understand this place gets packed and that they often have a food truck. There was a nice shuffleboard table too. These guys appear to be growing fast and expanding their territory with some very fine products. They are my current favorite in the area along with Union Craft on the north side of Baltimore. Make a point of visiting...not far from I95 between DC and Baltimore right on US 1.

Cool brewpub somewhere in the nether region between D.C. and Baltimore. Lots of beer on tap, and a nice, modern layout. I like the research and development flights they have on here - good idea, and a good way to make better beer. As for the other beers, they are mostly ok, with a couple of above average entries.

Jailbreak just opened up in an industrial park on Route 1 in Laurel, MD. The tasting room has a large bar with a view of the brewing area. The overall feel of the place is welcoming and they did a great job with the décor - ample tables and some comfortable couches. Their beers are quite good and I tried numerous ones, including The Big Punisher and Welcome to Scoville, a really (REALLY) good beer infused with jalapeno. They were both very good and I took a big growler of the Scoville home with me. Please note, they do NOT serve food for some reason (I think regulations). BUT they do have food trucks in the parking lot. Or, you can bring food into the tasting room.

Terriffic new local brewery. This review is just for the venue (the beer is great too). If anything this place is "too cool". Super clean, ultra modern restrooms. Great big bar area with enormous picture window so you can see fermentation tanks. Giant televisions to watch the game on. They have no food but there are often food trucks in the parking lot. They fill growlers too. A welcome addition to Laurel.

Laurel is long overdue for a brewery and Jailbreak has answered the call. Located in an industrial area, the space is large and open with ample parking and room for expansion. Nightly food trucks hawk grub for Jailbreak’s patrons patiently lining up in between pints. The beers are varied and fresh, and the staff does not keep you waiting long for your next pour. I am looking forward to Jailbreak’s future offerings.

Place is easy to get to and the building itself is basic looking industrial/commercial building. Inside is one giant rectangular room with the bar in the back in front of the glass windows showing off the brewhouse. Remainder of the open space is filled with tall tables and chairs, which is nice for a large group that ends up with some sitting and others standing. One side also has a nice lounge area with plush couches and a large shuffleboard. No food, but I believe at least one food truck is there daily. 8 house beers on tap and each was a unique style. Beers were pretty good and the brewery certainly seems to side towards experimental recipes and specialty ingredients. All around a pretty cool place.
