78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 TheCametron (26) , Czech Republic | April 11, 2013 IT’s a bit of a mission to get to this one but that adds to the sense of accomplishment when you get there. You need to ride the subway to the end of the track and get off at Haje. When you emerge from the station you leave behind any semblance of a beautiful Prague and stroll through a scenery composed entirely of high rise flats. This is interesting in itself because this lay out in Scotland would be immediately recognisable as a slum. Here the buildings are in good condition and the people are very nice. I still wouldn’t want to live out here but that’s a different matter. The Brewpub is in a converted powerhouse in the middle of endless blocks of flats. 5 minutes walk from the station. It’s a great building, two tiered with wood cladding everywhere. You sit with the meticulously polished brewing equipment and have your choice of 6 beers (sadly the Praguer Weisse was off). The food was very nice. I had rabbit with potatoes and it really hit the spot. The service was pleasant and everything was very reasonably priced. In summary, it’s well worth a visit but maybe not if you’re only in town for a couple of days. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 rlgk (177) Skövde, Sweden | March 25, 2013 Very nice Czech pub in the suburbs near Haje. Dark wooden interior and nice staff that speak English. I tried five of their own beers on tap, and they do serve good beer. Not that bust when I visited early on a Monday. It’s worth the trip if you are in Prague. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Bryne (218) Bryne, Norway | March 22, 2013 A strange place. This orange, rectangular building is tucked away between block of flats. But, if you know roughly where the brewpub is, you can not miss it. The inside ambiance is more what you expect from a brewpub. A real beer oasis in a tourist desert! Friendly service and very cheap. Sadly, their beers were not quite up to my expectations. Not bad at all but far from outstanding. American Pale Ale and Jihomestan 11 were good but Svetly Lezak was a sour butter bomb. 6 beers on tap. (Visited March 15th 2013) | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 1980olympics (32) , England | January 27, 2013 Large single room establishment with a ringed gallery upstairs. Plenty of tables and service, the only problem was we like numerous other people who turned up one after the other on Saturday evening (6pm) to find every and I mean every table reserved from 1900 onwards. So food was cancelled, drinks only. The Weissbier was unavailable. There is no space for casual drinking, no bar area to prop up, waitress service only. As stated it is a few hundred yards from ’Haje’ metro station in a kind of tower block suburb. Wish I had of gone midweek or during the day. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Svesse (181) Hässelby, Sweden | November 13, 2011 Nice brewpub in the southeast outskirts of Prague. Take the metro to Haje, the last stop on the red line. Upon leaving the station you realise you’re no longer in the fancy tourist area, but rather in a grey, concrete, high rise housing scheme from the 70’s (or so). Turn right out from the station, left in to Michnova and after a while you’ll see the brewpub on the right. Interior is mainly brown wood, looks a bit like a German beer hall, with robust wooden benches. On my visit late July 2011 they had 4 beers on tap, all brewed at the premises and a quite nice. Food was quite excellent and service efficient and friendly (no problems with the English language). If you have the time, it’s worth the detour. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 YULbier (250) Montreal, | October 11, 2011 They had 4 beers when I visited. All were very well made and fresh. I especially like the semi-dark wheat beer. Interior was nice, everything is new but is made old school style. The open mezzanine and the brewing system in the back are nice to look at. Service was friendly, in english and very quick. It is situated in a residential area reachable within a 5-10 minutes walk from the Haje metro station. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 gnoff (257) Mölndal, Sweden | June 8, 2011 Visited in June 2011. A bit of a trip to go by metro and then walk, but yes it is worth it! We got off at Haje metro station and had a walk from there. Very nice beers and very nice food. Was there for a late lunch, our mates who had been there longer said they had been busier over more normal lunch hours. Surroundsings are not very special, I recommend indoor seating, but indors is nice enough. Don’t miss this one just because it’s located further out, make sure to visit instead! | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 Christian (206) Odense, Denmark | February 17, 2011| Updated September 3, 2012 If you are in Prague for the beer, and you have finished all the must-do places, you really should take the Metro to Opatov and visit this place. It’s a big German style beer hall, filled with locals. They serve 6 excellent beers, and they are dirt cheap. We had a very attentive waitress who also happened to be the best looking waitress we saw in Prague. But I recommend the place for the beer, even if she’s not at work :) | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 Dedollewaitor (279) Odense, Denmark | February 8, 2011| Updated September 3, 2012 Wauuuw! 6 Beers on draft. The 3 regulars were amazing. Tmavy, svetle & Polotmavy. Not much english are spoken around here. It is a long way from the touristy Prague. Get of at Opatov station and youll have a 20 minute walk through the project buildings! Didn’t eat. Food looked very nice though. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 pivnizub (426) Bochum, Porúří, Germany | November 1, 2010| Updated September 3, 2012 New brewpub in a former boiler house in the ugly - dominated by prefabs ("panelaky") - suburbs of Chodov; not really a traditional and cozy old-fashioned Bohemian pub, but a windowless, ample atrium-like dim beer hall with a small bar on one and a stage on the other side. No reason to cry: the excellent beers and the great food are here the attractions: all the Richter brews from here are very well crafted and the meals are much better than the depessing ones You get in most of Prague pubs! Worth a visit! |
