| 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Foffern (27) Bergen, Norway | February 19, 2012 A nice brewpub with a restaurant in fantastic surroundings of the old Hansa brewery. They brew six decent beers at the pub. The food is also of good quality with a range of different dishes. If you don’t fancy the Waldemar-range the beer menu of about 20-30 beers would allways save you with many different beer styles. Too bad it’s only open at Thursdays. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 Odland (34) , Norway | February 7, 2011 It was a nice brewpub until they closed it of and reserved it for closed parties only. Only their own locally brewed ales on tap and a moderate selection of beers on bottles. They served their own beers in very small tasters. Did not sample the food. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Cuso (94) Bratislava, Slovak Republic | May 4, 2010 Wonderful restaurant/brewpub with 6 locally brewed beers. What is pity, that they are not open to the public in the evening, you can drink beer only when they have closed parties. In that case you as a individual person are served by bar. Unfortunately they will not serve you food. But anyway, this is very good place with excellent beers. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 gunnar (209) Sandnes, Norway | November 21, 2009 Nice restaurant/brewpub with 6 beers brewed on the premises, also nice bottle selection of Norwegian micros. Food and service was excellent, their christmas beer as well, the other 5 was rather dull. Hansa brewery museum in the same building, free entrance from the brewpub. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 KnutAlbert (235) Oslo, Norway | June 25, 2008 A very friendly place, where they appreciate customers interested in beers. I was even gieven a free sample of a beer that the bartender thought was past its prime. Their own brews are not outstanding, but quite decent, and if you are in Bergen, it’s worth the detour.
It’s not far from the bus and rail station. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 Beer3000 (71) Kristiansand, Norway | June 19, 2008 A bit difficult place to locate without a map, but definitively worth the trouble considerating the alternatives in Bergen. 30-40 minutes walk from Centrum so considerate a taxi if You’re not particular keen on walking in the area. The building and the bar itself is a bit “cold”, but there’s plenty of details to take a closer look at. Not to exiting beers from theirs own taps, but definitively drinkable. The Ale is a nice refreshment and the Bock is actually quite enjoyable. Nice bottle selection as well. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (137) Kristiansand, Norway | May 22, 2008 In the old buildings of Hansa Bryggeri, they’ve installed a museum and a brewpub and restaurant. The brewery is situated in the middle of the brewpub, which has a modern look. The beers aren’t the most exciting, but with friendly and a staff where some of them are knowledgeable, it’s a place to visit. Seems the seasonal beers are the best ones. As well as their own beers (small samples available), there’s also a decent selection of the usual Norwegian micros, some Trappist and other Belgians, as well as some lagers. The place is situated a 10-15 minutes walk from downtown Bergen, but it is worth it. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 ogivlado (270) Zagreb, Croatia | December 28, 2007 Very nice brew pub with friendly service. When I had been in Kalfaret, there was some fancy happening with lots of people which objectively don’t belong there. When I’ve allready tried all five avaliable beers, one waiter brought me four different 100ml for free. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Rune (319) Tromsø, Norway | November 20, 2007| Updated December 26, 2007 The brew house was a welcoming retreat on cold and rainy November Thursday in Bergen. Fairly spacious, open, airy and modern bar and restaurant located approximately 10 minutes walk from the railway station. Easy to find with an ordinary tourist map. Clean and tidy place with relaxing Sinatra music in the background. Helpful, friendly and attentive staff – the same goes for the manager who treated me with a taste of the newly arrived Anchor Christmas Ale (Our Special Ale 07). Well made food – I had a Biff sandwich which turned out to be a fine partner to their own xmas ale. Nice tasting glasses for 100ml. Apart from their own brews, Pilsner, Stout, Bayer, Weissen and Juleøl, the beer menu included about 25 bottles plus some seasonal beers. There are bottles from Nøgne Ø, Haandbryggeriet and some British, German and Belgian beers as well. The Brew House’s own beers are not more than average, but Waldemars Juleøl proves that this is an up-and-coming place for beer enjoyment in Norway.
