68 This place is in a strip mall. Dedicated parking right in front, the lot was pretty full when I was there around lunch time, service was pretty good. Selections was not as good as the other location, but seemed less picked over. Pricing was good. If in the area I would go back. |
82 Huge move - no longer in the downtown area - now north of the I-265 bypass a few miles off I-65 in a strip mall. Much more parking and a much larger store with a better selection (but still not the selection of the Clarksville location). A very nice change. |
78 Overview: Keg Liquors in New Albany is the recent expansion of the Keg Liquors brand outside of Clarksville, the original location. While the other is a stand-alone building, this Keg is located in a storefront. The place is well marked and lit, and was easy to locate. Inside, most of the back portion of the store is dedicated to beer; a sizable section of refrigerated beer on the left, and warm shelves on the right, organized by country/region. Service was initially pretty reserved, but was friendly and helpful enough with my questions. Selection, as you’d expect from shopping at the original, is very extensive and well priced. Todd (the owner) does a nice job of updating his available beers on this site, so check that out for a pretty up to date list of what’s in stock. Even with all the shelf space for beers further afield, there’s still plenty of IN beer in stock, some of which I’ve not seen elsewhere locally. Anything on the shelves can be purchased as a single. PROS: Strong selection; great prices. CONS: Would have been nice to include a growler station at the new location. Not really something Keg can control, since they are legal only in IN breweries. OVERALL: A nice second addition to the Keg Liquors family. The original is still closer for me, so I will probably continue to go there, but I’d definitely return often if this were closer. In a shopping center, so parking is simple. |
70 Not nearly the caliber of beer destination as the Clarksville location but still a solid store. Friendly staff and a decent beer selection. A few rarer brews to be found as well. Worth a stop if you’re in the area but I prefer the original location to this one. |
70 Smaller version of the Clarksville store in downtown New Albany. Nice little storefront, actually. The selection is much smaller but the gist is the same, and so are the prices. The problem is that I checked the website prior to going and made a list- not one thing that was on my list was actually in the store. The website is not tied to the sales system, so it’s updated manually and therefore behind. So if you’re coming in from out of town, beware of that. Otherwise, this is a nice place to buy beer in New Albany. |
76 Visited soon after opening on a Monday. Clean store with friendly staff featuring 7 racks of warm (beer and approximately 6 cooler doors of craft in the fridge. In terms of selection, it wasn’t enormous, though I did see many beers here that I haven’t seen in a quite awhile ( different Fantome, 2012 Boulevard Saison Brett, a bunch of Jolly Pumpkin, 3 different Anchorage beers). All beers are sold as singles, decent prices both for singles or multiples. I grabbed a couple different Sun King beers, a couple of standard Three Floyd beers and was happy. 76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
76 Very good store. Good beer selection for it’s size. Clean and well organized with new stock hitting the shelves all the time. Workers are friendly and ready to help out if asked. |
72 Small place, small but well chosen beer selection. I found a number of things here that were not available at their larger location in Clarksville. Very friendly and helpful staff. Worth a stop, even if you go to the larger location. |
66 Not nearly the selection as the other location. |
70 A brand new store that Todd is still stocking. The store itself is pretty small. The selection is not huge, but is varied. A bit out of the way most of the time, but if I’m in the area and have a craving I will definitely stop in. A welcome addition to New Albany’s growing downtown! |
