Visited July 2012. Very crowded place, very smoky and lots of locals.

Pretty decent inhouse IPA. Traditional Czech food. Great for bigger groups. Especially the outside seating area.

We visited this place 23.11.2013. Nice walk from U Tri Ruzi, takes you over the Karl’s bridge and up to the monestary. 2 separated buildings, to the left the brewery, to the right a room packed with tourists. Quite unfriendly and very slow service. They have 4 beers on tap, 3 top fermenting (IPA, amber, brown) and 1 dark Munich style lager. We liked the brown ale, nice taste with subtle bitterness. Food seems to be ok, we had only an onion soup.

The best thing with this place is that how it is situated, so you perhaps should not miss that brewery when you sightseeing in Prague. And they have (had!) a good tmavy lezak as well as a chance to get some interesting pale ales or other specials. But there are TOO MUCH tourists, so the staff is really slow and they don’t care about that. So just go to the bar stand, drink a couple of beers (behold high prices!) and go further.

We almost didn’t make it here as we were crunched for time during our Prague stay, but very happy we did. A very lovely courtyard seating area (with heat lamps for the cool evenings). Plenty of indoor seating, too, but we prefer outdoor. A couple of patrons brought their dogs and no one seemed to mind, which was nice (they even had a dog bowl for them). The food was very good- I had the goulash and was very happy I did. They had four beers on when we visited; weizen, dark lager, amber lager, and IPA. The IPA was very nice, but muted bitterness by American IPA standards. Still, it was a nice change of pace from all the lagers we’d been having. The amber lager was decent, but the weizen and dark lager were my favorites. Both were excellent. The whole place closed at 10p, which was a little sad because we got there late, but I got to try all the beers anyhow. For all the beers, two dinners, and a starter, we came away at less than 500 Korunas, which isn’t bad considering the prices of Prague. Will make sure to visit again if I make it to Prague again. Excellent.

Located next to the monastry. Too bad that the monastry was closed for TV-recordings that day. But it was a good excuse to stay longer for the beers. It’s not that far out of the city center, unless you really can’t stand walking. But the view is worth the walk.
Nice ambiance, plenty of people, spacious but cosy. The brewkettles inside the location added a nice extra. Lovely bar.
Nice selection of the Sv. Norbert beers, not much but good.
Service is fluent, but sec and emotionless. They are good sellers though (or am I easy for another beer?).
The food look good and good portions, but I didn’t taste.
Price is fair to cheap, like most places in Prague.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Prague. The people were extremely nice, the food was great, and the beer was tasty. The ambiance of the monestary surrounding the place is incredible, and it is only a short walk up the street to the castle. They had three beers on draft, and the smoked porter available in bottles. Everything seemed rather inexpensive, but maybe slightly more for Prague standards. This place was great.

Clean well kept bar in the upper heights of Praha. Pretty touristy all in all, in the feel (and on your check). The service is quite amiable however, the food is tasty (I had some trout - large servings). The beer is very good, good enough to make it a must visit.
