We have visited this place a number of times during the past 10 years. They used to have a fantastic selection of beers, with many vintages stored in their cellar. Food also used to be of top quality. I have had one of my best fillets of beef ever here, with a magic Duvel sauce to go with it. Sadly all of this belongs to the past. The beer selection today is not so extensive, although with some interesting Micros. But they have totally dropped the ambition of storing vintage beers. As for the food they have abandoned their gourmet ambitions. Only a few simple dishes on the menu.
Do drop in for the Micros if you are nearby, but not a place to go on a pilgrimage for anymore.

We went on a Wednesday around 6 p.m. and we were almost alone. Old-ish decoration with some creepy clowns everywhere (ok, not some much but there’s still some). Friendly and relatively fast service. A couple of good beer on tap including Taras Boulba. Bottle list is interesting but most of the vintage stuff isn’t available anymore. Food was pretty good. We had a Carbonade flamande and a small Spaguetti Bolognese and both were tasty. Price are good for Brussels. An interesting place to visit if you spend a couple of days in Brussels, but not a place you must visit, at least not anymore.

Visited in October 2012.
I had heard good things about this place way back when during my time on BA. Now, after having visited it the most interesting thing aside from the creepy clown paraphernalia all over the place and the obscure beers available was the hike up here from Le Poechenellekelder. To say we took the scenic route may be an understatement. We walked all over the place, way out of the way, and eventually found our way. I guess it was fine since we got to see some of the old town and some college hazing but we were all kind of fed up and wanted to just get to the damn restaurant by that point.
Inside the restaurant is a bit barren. Very open with the clown dolls scattered around. I didn’t have much issue with the service here. Maybe the server wasn’t super friendly but he wasn’t rude. The bottle list was interesting. I didn’t find the special Cantillon (another variation on Cuvee de Champions) or any obscure Fantomes but they had a bunch of stuff that I had never heard of so I got a saison. There wasn’t much to pick from on the menu but the spaghetti was gigantic. I hadn’t eaten all day and in my obesity I managed to finish most of it but that is enough food for 2 or 3 people.
I think I’ll have to stop back in one more time and scour the bottle list a bit better because there are some neat things in there, but this isn’t the premier beer nerd destination, at least not any more.

Good mix of beer and food. A couple of hard to get bottles made the trip worthwhile.

Nice place with a fairly good selection of Belgian beer. The place lopks more like a cheap Thai restaurant but staff is friendly and knowlesgeable. Food is quite good.

This place is located in the centre of Brussels. NIce atmosphere. We sat outside, so I didn’t really get a chance to look inside. Service was really good. Friendly bartender. Fast service, despite what previous comments say. The selection of beers is certainly OK, but nothing really special you wouldn’t find at a specialised beer shop. The small vintage list is nice though. But prices are a bit high and I have no idea of the amount they actually still have of it. The food really really wasn’t good. The "waterzooi" of fish was prefabricated, dry, overcooked, there was some sand in it. Really not nice. I had the Vol-au-vent with stoemp. Vol-au-vent clearly wasn’t homemade as they claim (wasn’t the case with the Waterzooi as well) and was just plain boring to eat. The stoemp was nice, but not as smooth and impressive as I hoped. Prices are pretty OK. Overall I wouldn’t go back to this place to eat, perhaps to have a beer, but not for food.

This was by far my favorite stop in Brussels. It had just opened so the place was quiet enough to carry on a conversation. It might get busier later in the evenings. The beer selection might not be as deep as other bars but nothing was filler. Likewise prices felt a bit more reasonable compared to the city center. As a bonus you can get a draft of a house special only available locally. Be sure to order food as well since everything is made with Belgian beers and portions are very fairly sized.

Visited in may 2011. Wide selection of Belgian beers, with some rarities. Good service and clean place. Worth a visit in Brussels.
