80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 josarah (101) Hinesburg, Vermont | December 28, 2012 Interest spot in an industrial part of town. Clean, modern and lots of windows. The beers were diverse and tasty as was the food. The service was very good. If it were located a little closer to the downtown are this place would be very busy. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 Radek Kliber (165) Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Poland | July 24, 2012 Slightly out of the way sat outside at the patio. Place is clean with decent but not great service (bit slow). Beers were OK. Average on all accounts. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 Sammy (462) Toronto, Ontario | June 20, 2012 An oasis in an industrial area of the last 50 years or so. Nicely appointed inside with working air conditioning and a nice bar, this could be a decent place in any city. The outside tent area for those braving the sun, the autobody shop neighbours. A long walk from downtown, Old Montreal, and the subway, it is not set up for this crowd. Nicely organized in the back, the place is efficient and plans a second downtown clone by way of expansion as a restaurant, firstly, that has beer different than the 3 brewers (Trois Brasseurs). And now the beer, it is for the most part basic, supplemented by extracts and puree and juices that does take up the taste but is of course not purist. There are some changes at the margin, with a recent success in using wild yeast however cherry juice changed this one. Also a good brown ale, however this brewer is now passing through. It remains to be seen how new brewers they will bring in can keep their own freedom and creativity.
| 48 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 vaillans (2) Saint-Lambert, Quebec | September 8, 2011 Very slow service, specially on the patio. Probably understaff. Had to wait at least 45 minutes for our ordered beer to come, after numerous complains.
That being said, decent brew pub to go for lunch if you are in the area. The beers are not extraordinary, but they are quite honest. They seems to have a problem of availability sometimes, even for their regular beers that are bottled. | 52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 robinvboyer (69) Sturgeon Falls, Ontario | July 9, 2011 Visited while i was at the mondiale. Very nice large outdoor patio. Nice modern decor. I was too late for food, so i didnt get to try any. The beers were ok, alot were a little boring, and run of the mill, but they were well made. I was a little miffed when two of the beers o their chalk board had run out and they didnt remove them. The service was fine. Overall a nice place to stop for a few beers, but it was mostly a "meh" destination. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Wolfking (10) Quebec | July 3, 2011 I enjoy going for lunch there, the brews are not my favorites but the food is pretty nice and the sodas are quite interesting. It is a bit out of the way compared to others places but it makes it stands from other as well | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 DerWeg (35) Toronto, Ontario | November 7, 2010 I was surprised that nobody told me about this place, and at the general quality level. Granted it was slightly out of the way, but the dining and bar area is really nice. Plus there is a big outside patio area (not much people walking by to look at, this is literally an edge-of-town place.) You are AT a brewery.... Food was excellent, and beers tend to vary from ’yeah it’s totally fine’ to ’hey I do like this one,’ And you can order samples or Galopins I believe, if you are in some kind of big hurry to get back to the noise and distractions of lower St Denis. A nice surprise and worth sharing a quick cab ride if you are not much of a biped. (143e rating d’établissement) | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 mabel (211) Toronto, Ontario | August 22, 2009 Visited during the weekend of Mondial this year, this spacious brewpub with a tall ceiling was noisy with waiters, not patrons, as it was a nice day and most people were out on the sunny prison-like patio. We tried seven of their beers on tap, all were interesting if a little odd, the best being their Chi Orientale. Service was friendly but a little slow. We tried a mac & cheese bowl and a sandwich chaud au roti de la porc (hot pork sandwich) which were both tasty. Good brewpub, worth re-visiting if you’re in the neighbourhood, but it is a bit out of the way. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 JoeMcPhee (465) Toronto, ON, Ontario | July 5, 2009 This place is a bit of a haul from the University where my conference was being held, but in the end, it was absolutely worth it. Big, bright modern space with a large deck area on the side. Sort of in a post-industrial wasteland, but don’t let that deter you from checking this place out. Very friendly servers who knew the product very well. A pretty good selection of beers (the absinthe stout was a particular standout for me) in a wide variety of styles. Nothing is going to blow your socks off, but they are all well-made. The snacks are pretty tasty as well. I do think it’s worth checking out if you’re in Montreal... not one of the top 5 destinations in the city, but still a good one. |
