English style pub and ales, really tough to get a spot at 2pm. The food didn’t look to appetizing. The beers were very meh besides the Three Sheets, the porter was out. Bar tenders didn’t know jack about beer. Not a spot I’d come back to with Hart so close.

Nice pub, good atmosphere and always a good range of beers mostly with an English bent (which are served too cold). I usually drop in for a few if I’m in Sydney - never noticed the food menu, been too busy quaffing down pints.

A very ’English’ looking brewpub. The food is ok, prices are rather high. Beer is amongst the best I had in australia (this is not really saying much) . In particular the Doubkle Nelson is one fine DIPA. Nice!

Lovely traditional old school pub with a warm convivial atmosphere, efficient service from very busy bar staff and a decent selection of taps with prices per pint more favourable than some other local competitors competing for the ’craft’ dollar.

Historic pub with a stone and bare wood interior. Service was efficient, the Lord Nelson beers pleasant, if served a bit too cold, and the atmosphere sociable.

Have been several times and has great ambiance with good beers and good food. Highly recommend going.

I had two weeks in Sydney during 2006, mostly trying beers and different bars. This was my favourite drinking establishment. Open plan, plenty of serving area around the large bar and a good choice (mainly British style beers) on tap. It is located a short walk from the louder, youngster style bars of ’The Rocks’ and well worth finding. I liked the list of names on the wall. Every person who arrived on the very first flotilla bringing convicts to Oz are on the lists. The lists are by ship, it just sends you back to the birth of a nation, it made me think a bit.

We stayed in their hotel above, not far to stagger at all after trying their impressive collection of beers.

Right on the Sydney Rocks a little bit of walk from Sydney Harbour, this pretty fun place looks like a English pub inside crossed with a German beer hall. Lots of people having fun and sort of a riot to visit for drinks at night. Sadly, they close way too early. I think something like 10pm so make sure you check the opening hours before you settle in. Tap list is pretty much all of their own beers: 8 or so on tap at any given time. Almost all are English styles plus they have a very nice Guinness clone. I know they have food, but I didn’t get to try it. Definitely worth stopping in to try their beers on tap since in bottle form they don’t hold up so well. The rye ale was pretty delicious but I’d reckon they come out with some tap only stuff just about every month. Upstairs it seems you can get a hotel room, which could be really awesome. A little expensive, but so is everyplace in Sydney especially near the harbor.
