The Grateful Dead mural is long gone but the beer is as good as ever. Can be very busy at times and you won’t get a table if you’re not eating..English style beers available on cask

Stopped by here during my trip to SF last summer. Remember having Cole Porter and In with the New IPA, but not well enough to rate them. Cool place, definitely hopping; mostly English style stuff, solid and unflawed but not impressive either. Food looked good, and clearly popular with neighborhood locals regardless of the beer which is always a good sign. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Visited during SF beer week for firkin event. Lots of wood and tile, pretty much open air with about a 8’ wood/glass divider in the middle, a draft list board above that and the bar on the back wall. Hard to tell about the service as it was pack with standing room only, the 2 beers I sample were fine, but nothing mind blowing. Didn’t eat, but plenty of people were and it looked decent. Draft prices where a bit on the high side, but not too bad. Worth a stop if in the neighborhood and have time, but wouldn’t go out of my way to make it here again

We were in Magnolia in 2007. The place is not too far from Toronado. It’s a beer restaurant with very good food. Liked the interior, some nice pictures, very colorful. Beers are mainly English style ales, quite tasteful. We bought one of the nicest beer T-shirts in our whole collection.

Visited maybe 12 times over the past 6 years. I usually stop in once on every trip to northern CA as they always have some new beers on tap

These guys make mostly English style beers with the majority being bitters, milds, and pale ales with an occasional porter or stout mixed in. If that’s not your thing then you can get bored with the beer I’m sure. The upside is that they also participate in the Strong Ale Month with 21st Amendment where every February each brewery makes 6 strong ales through out the month and more recetly the BRU/SFO project in November which are all Belgian style beers (they both start off with 4 on tap and then relase another during the 3rd and 4th week of the month. You can get a punch card and if you get them all stamped at each brewery you get a free glass, but to do it just for the glass isnt worth it since you’ll probably pay around $100 total).

The food is good and it’s a friendly atmosphere but it can get pretty full at night. The bar is pretty small and doesnt seat a whole lot of people. Often times it’ll be standing room only. Servicve is pretty good as well, even if it does get busy.

Prices are high but not ridiculous compared to any other place in SF.

Upscale English food with a wide variety of beers brewed under the restaurant. They are hella busy and I still got good service. Creative menu and tasted good. They offer flights for $12 and they are big. You get a card with your selections and the recommended drinking order.

Cool little brewpub in the Haight. Usually pretty crowded, but I’ve never had much of a problem finding a space at the bar. The food is supposed to be great but I’ve never eaten here. The beers are generally mediocre, but they have some pretty cheap samplers, which is nice. The service is good/attentive, and that’s always appreciated.

Several house beers on tap, didn’t have the time to check bottles. Very crowded at peak hours, gets very noisy. The dishes looked quite good too.

A very interesting pub smack dab in the middle of the Haight district. I love that these guys specialize in British style cask conditioned ales. You just don’t see that often in California. They hold a firkin fest every year that is pretty awesome. The beers are all good in my opinion. The cask bitters are a highlight and I had a great oak aged imperial stout last time I was here. The ambiance is very nice even though it seems a bit crammed inside. The service is good and the prices seem fair. The food is also excellent and served with style. A very fun place to visit. I would recommend putting it in your rotation if you come out to Toronado.
