70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 bearbug (1) Maine | December 22, 2012 My family and I have become regulars at Mainely. The food is always great and the Post Office Porter is the greatest. The staff is freindly. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 ranie (3) | November 3, 2012 Interesting location in the basement of the old post office downtown. Exposed brick walls add to the ambiance. Friendly local vibe. Their own beers, brewed off-site, weren’t bad, but tended to blur inut worth coming to if you are in the area.to each other and weren’t true to style. Not a great place, b | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 chriso (306) London, England | March 29, 2010| Updated March 30, 2010 This was listed here as a brewpub (I have changed that) but it is not and the name is misleading. To be fair they do state on their beer menu that all the beers are brewed at Black Bear in Orono. Trouble is, the beers have all been given Waterville-specific names and, without further details such as ABV, it is impossible to even hazard a guess at whether some, or all of them are rebadges of Black Bear products. Whatever they are, all 5 in my sampler (2 beers not available) were decent. As the status of the Bear brewpub in Orono seems uncertain and I have no intention of visiting to clarify, this may be your best bet for finding a number of Black Bear brews in one place. Pleasant enough place. Subterranean, underneath the (old?) Post Office building, no natural light. Very quiet when we visited mid afternoon on a Monday - not really surprising - so difficult to judge what it would be like at a busier time. Food was fine - meatloaf was excellent. Service was friendly but clueless about the beers. | 98 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 76ERB (1) | February 6, 2010| Updated March 30, 2010 Great 2 cent IPA and Drop Dead Red. Good value on food, great service, and ample parking.
Good discounts on appetizers, pizzas, and burgers depending on the day of the week.
Ambiance is very good, not great because of the acoustics when there is live entertainment. But 4 out of 5 ain’t bad.
Great beer and food at a great price!
| 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Crater137 (11) | December 3, 2009| Updated March 30, 2010 Nice, attractive environment. Quality house brews. I’m really a fan of the Two Cent Ale. All I had to eat here was wings, but I’d get them again! A good selection of micros and macros on tap. Some nice live music on the weekends although the louder bands don’t always sound great with the sounds bouncing all over the brick walls and cement floor. Definatly worth a stop however. |
