Maxís is one of the best beer bars in the U.S., period. It took me a few visits to get used to the pub style service, but I now embrace it wholeheartedly. The taps are fresh and change often, and they rotate 4 - 6 cask beers through their hand pumps. The staff are super friendly and helpful as well as beer knowledgeable, though the place can get very crowded and make it hard to get prompt service. The food is standard pub fare or you can bring in your own food, from home or another establishment (and there are quite a few within a two-block radius. The atmosphere is super laid back though it can get really packed on the weekends or during Baltimore sporting events, special pub events; Halloween is crazy in Fells Point, and Maxís decorates nicely for the festivities. This is a must-stop if you are in Baltimore.

Only been here twice and both times it was crowded. Usually thatís not my thing, but the atmosphere and selection are way too amazing to ignore. Draft list is impressive; the bottle list even more so. I wish there was a place like this closer to me. Very highly recommended.

Visited here while at a conference. Holy cow. This place is amazing. Food was pretty good, but the beer selection is just out of this world. The bartenders knew their stuff and even with all those taps got me my beers very quickly. I had about 10 sample pours (5 oz). Everything was just fantastic. Canít wait to go back tomorrow night.

Great sports bar with a craft beer selection that will keep you busy all day. Nice atmosphere over in Fells Point. Fun place to watch a game.

From what I can tell, this is the "destination" beer spot in Baltimore. Lots of great draft options. Almost too many; I can imagine old beers being an issue, however I didnít have anything that seemed off when I visited. Went on a Saturday afternoon, and it was pretty busy. Itís in the bar district, so I imagine that itís rare to find the place dead at any time of the day. Everything seemed very well priced, and you can get flight-sized samples. Great place.

Wow, was not expecting this place to be as awesome as it is. Very large bar, lots of room, but itís full as well (at least during the Raversí game!), very festive atmosphere. The bottled selection is amazing, and the taps are incredible, too. Definitely legit, definitely. What a cool place.

Quick midday visit here while at Fells Point. Happened to be having Oktoberfest. Overwhelming selection of beers on any given day. And lots more for the Fest. Atmosphere was lively and loud. Staff was busy but friendly. Place is decorated with hundreds of tap handles. Got myself a local brew and a double IPA. Both were quite good as was the Stiegl that my wife had. Standard mugs and glassware. Didnít try food but talked to someone who raved about the wurst platter they had. This place attracts the party crowd so Iím sure it can get rowdy, but given their selection it is a place I will try to return to.

Visited July 2011.

Iíve heard some great things about this place so I was excited to check it out. Itís definitely in a cool spot, right near the water and in a happening part of town, though parking was a pain. After hearing about all these great beer events and how all the beer nerds love being here I was a bit surprised by the college bar atmosphere. Extremely loud but it was still fun. Lots of good beers available both on tap and in the bottle. Actually the amount of bottles in the fridge was staggering. After scanning through most of them I decided to get a glass of Hanssens Kriek on cask. That was a mistake. I got a 20oz pint of what seemed to be a very old cask (as in it had been tapped a long time before). It was pure vinegar and bandaids. I know some people hate on Hanssens but Iíve never had a kriek like that. It was terrible. I mentioned to the bartender that I thought it was old and asked if he could give me something else. He said no, he wouldnt give me another beer for free. So I took a few sips, left it on the bar, and walked out. Yeah, I get it, youíre making money on the college kids but that cask was effed up. Dump it. I might return for beer events but if I ever go back on a regular day Iíll make sure to be more careful about what I order or at the very least scroll past the casks. Should have been a zero tip situation but I think I left the tip when I ordered the drink.

Only been here a couple times, one being for a bigger belgian event. They seem to have a bunch of options, belgian influences both during and not during the festival. On the plus side they usually have stillwater on.
