Mikkeller & Friends (Stefansgade)

We came here on 25.2.2023. Typical Mikkeller bar in the basement. Very comfortable feeling. Around 35 beers on tap. Great variety and the largest Mikkeller beer selection in town. Some good merchandising available.

Visited many times during last MBCC-festivals. Cozy narrow place with very nice beer selection.

The second pub opened by Mikkeller, one of Europe’s great craft beer pioneers, in the vibrant Copenhagen neighborhood of Nørrebro. Perhaps best known for its Koelschip department in the same building – first a bottle shop, later a bar specializing in Belgian lambic beers, the rare and vintage ones of which are among the world’s most coveted beers today; Koelschip justly has its own entry here, though, as it is indeed a different pub altogether. It was unfortunately closed on the day I passed by so I will have to do with a rating of Mikkeller & Friends alone: your typical American style craft beer venue, with ever-rotating taps offering hip flavoured sours, IPAs of all kind and whatever is popular among young craft beer hipsters today; efficient staff and quick service (as usual in these Mikkeller bars), ‘modern brown’ interior and fair prices for Copenhagen. We sat mostly outside since it was a warm and sunny summer afternoon, on a series of benches and tables that were installed on the other side of the busy street, adjacent to a park. Pleasant experience altogether, had some very interesting and colourful craft beers, but if I make it back there, I will make sure it is on a day when Koelschip is open as well…

Steps down into the building so an underground feel to it. Roughly 40 beers of their and others on tap. Several small rooms to hang out in. Overall really nice.

Clean, bright and minimalistic basement bar with great selection of Mikkeller. Friendly and attentive staff and a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Not too different from the one in Vesterbro. Certainly worth a visit.
