78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 LilBeerDoctor (215) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | April 18, 2013 I really enjoyed my visit here. This brewpub is located downtown right next to the Reds ballpark. It is quite large, but also quite crowded when I was there. They have around 6-7 house taps and guest taps and bottles. I tried the IPA and pale ale, which I thought were really phenomenal. On their bottle list, they had Alesmith My Bloody Valentine (which has been a want of mine for quite some time...although now it is bottled, so easier to find I guess, but nonetheless, I was super excited to be able to order it). The guest offerings are nothing crazy, but include plenty of solid local beers and imports. The food menu is quite expansive and the food was really tasty. I got the smothered chicken and it was excellent and unfortunately too filling because I really wanted to try dessert too :-) I had no problems with the service during my visit. Definitely worth a stop while in Cincinnati and I would like to come by again. | 42 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 2/10 OVERALL 7/20 vedder014 (3) , | February 12, 2013 I was really disappointed during my first, and likely only visit here. I came with some friends on a non-game day and the service was horrible. The bartender ignored us for a good 20 minutes before finally getting to us and it wasn’t even that busy. I would hate to try to get a beer there before a Reds or Bengals game. They had a great selection of beer but the prices were pretty steep. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 15/20 Capa (248) Manama, Bahrain | November 23, 2012 I came here as part of a wedding rehearsal so I had a bit of a different experience. Food was top-notch and would definitely eat hear again. More of an upscale vibe than I was expecting with dark wood and fine finishings. I was a bit disappointed with the beer selection. All of their brews but no special house beers of limited offerings. The guest beers were nice but again, nothing out of the ordinary and pretty expensive I thought. A great place to take a date but I’m not sure how much time I’d spend here if I lived in Cincy. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 DrSilverworm (30) Cincinnati, Ohio | August 17, 2012 Went here for the first time with a friend. Was pretty impressed. The place is beautiful on the outside, and even more beautiful on the inside. It’s a two-level place, we sat down at the spacious double-sided bar on the upstairs level. The bartenders were nice, courteous, and gave good service. Decent amount of respectable crafts, and new stuff to interest beer nerds - Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger was on tap when I visited. The menu was totally out of date, but at least they rotate their stuff often. Moerlein sometimes gets a bad rap here in Cinci for contracting their brews out, but some of the offerings available are actually brewed on-site, and were pretty respectable (I tried the Se7en Hefe). They also had bottles of Hudy 14-K available, I was happy to finally find that. Prices weren’t awful, especially considering the location. A lot better than I expected it to be. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 12/20 AndyReynolds (51) Wilder, Kentucky | July 14, 2012 I have heard they have good food, bit I just got a few beers here. Good service with a very elegant setup. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 mikem409 (165) bloomfield, Michigan | July 13, 2012 located next to great american ball park very large place to catch beers before/after game. decent food so-so beer. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 b3shine (180) Cincinnati, Ohio | July 12, 2012 A good brewpub next to GABP right on the river. Pricey, but that’s to be expected downtown. Food is good and so was the service so how busy it gets. Beer selection isn’t bad, but I’d like to see a little more brewery-only beers on draft. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 16/20 Chudwick (65) Cincyucky, Kentucky | July 11, 2012 Exceed my expectations. Ambiance was afterwork white collar crowd. Service was decent. Selection was limited but had many different styles. Food was way better than any bar, pub or brewery I ever been to. Everyone I went with loved their food. I also daresay that their German food was way better than the brewery from across the river. The beer prices were steep that stems from the location (just across from the GABP). Will go again, but for the food. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 bethmatt0421 (19) Covington, Kentucky | June 26, 2012 Place has a great view of the Cincinnati Riverfront and right next to the Reds stadium. Food was really good and the beer selection was above average. I enjoyed it! | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 Drjohnrock (5) Cincinnati, Ohio | June 11, 2012 Went here on Easter Sunday, between the Reds’ pre- and post-game crowds. Nice selection of Moerlein brew (including ones exclusive to the brewpub. Server was friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. The one drawback--and to me it’s a big one--is that the place is rather pricey. I guess one would expect that, given the prime riverfront location. But I hope that a happy hour will be put in place after baseball season to ease the price sting a bit. Still, I’m glad the place exists, and I hope Moerlein head guy Greg Hardman keeps his promise to bring back some Cincinnati beers that haven’t been made in decades. |
