56 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 culchiem (33) , Germany | May 22, 2012 Nice to sit in the window and watch the world go by. Good selection of bottles, plenty of taps but not all in use, mostly their own beers. Staff are pretty useless, I asked for a taster tray and was given it without being told what beers were in it, took a bit of effort to get the info from the barman. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 Crump (1) , | February 23, 2012 The service was very good and fast not alot of wait. I will go back and take people with me. Very nice place | 46 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 8/20 chrull (13) , Sweden | February 23, 2012 It’s good for a quick stop and hopefully good beer, but the taps are mostly the same and the service is usually slow as hell. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Palme (47) Bergen, Norway | November 1, 2011 Stumbled upon this place while someone was out shopping. Pleasantly located next to the main shoppingstreet in Sthml this is a easy to find place with good opening hours. The selection is also really nice with lots of american and belgian goodies on the menu but also some hard to get germans as well. Good tap selection also. The staff however was not really to interested in anything actually. A place I will return to on my next Sthml visit. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 LookMomNoHands (44) Copenhagen, Denmark | August 16, 2011 We arrived Saturday afternoon just after the place opened. Large collection of Belgian, German and Swedish beers on tap. A few of the taps were closed due to the summer. Large collection of bottles. Nice, dark interior with a restaurant opstairs. Service not very informative. Had only time for a single beer, but really enjoyed sitting outside at the pretty cool Sveavägen. | 36 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 1/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 5/20 lusikka (32) Tampere, Finland | May 30, 2011 Came here just when the place opened. Not too far from the Central station. Loads of Belgian beers and other Belgium-related beer stuff on the window. Quiet place, good music. And then the problems started. The bartender was really pissed off and the service was very bad. "Alla världens öl" weeks were on, and I couldn’t get any of the beers I wanted (for e.g. De Molen beers) because they were "not available". However I saw that the fridge had loads of De Molen bottles in it. He wasn’t very helpful either when I asked some questions about the beers available. Managed to buy Monks Cafe Svea IPA and Orange Ale and every single time the bartender threw the change to the counter. Unacceptable, won’t come here again. There are much better places in Stockholm anyway. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | April 11, 2011 Urbain recommended we stop in and say hi to Jack, which we did, and were very happy. It was an honor to drink a Black Jack with the man himself, and to see such a nice range of beers in a smallish space. Well done. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 jrallen34 (271) Chicago, Illinois | March 31, 2011 A nice Monday afternoon decided to head down this recommended joint. As soon as you walk in 2 beverage centers awe you really De Struise beers and tons of GI, I’m like am I back in Chitown? Place is pretty small, was warm inside, no one offered to help us so we took a seat, no one offered us menus so we grabbed, no one offered to take our order so went to the bar to place one, you’re sensing a theme aren’t you? The selection si really good and really bad. Its really good because it has tons of GI, de molen, and de struise. Then it has at least one beer from at least 40 countries, possbily more. Its bad because it ways so heavily on 3 breweries then the beers from the random countries are mostly garbage lagers. Decent quality on the high end beers but everything else is garbage. Service was horrendous.
Overall a decent place worth checking out, only place in Stockholm with De Struise so far. However, not worth having more a couple beers at and expect crappy service. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 AndySnow (44) Stockholm, Sweden | February 20, 2011 Unlike the other two Monk’s in Stockholm, this one doesn’t have a brewery on the premises. That doesn’t stop them from having a large selection of beers from smaller breweries around the world. Knowledgeable staff and a selection you don’t find everywhere, as well as their own beers, make it well worth a visit. | 66 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 Frovigalning (29) Örebro, Sweden | October 14, 2010 Nice cozy place with allot of beer. However allot of them feels like filler beers that doesn’t hold a very high quality. Like the turkish and argentinian brews for instance. But I like the tray of samplers and that they have allot of their own beers on tap. Also plus that you can buy their own beers and bring home (low abv beers). Biggest downside is the relatively high prices that all the Monks establishments have. |
